Israeli "defense" exports make up 10% of the world's totalBy Gideon AlonIsrael exports 10 percent of the world's security- related equipment, Defense Ministry director general Amos Yaron told Sunday's cabinet meeting.
He said Israel has set a security export target of $2.5 billion a year, but defense officials hope this level will rise to $4 billion. Yaron said defense exports last year did reach about $3 billion, reflecting "a steady increase since the early 1990s."
Yaron and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz presented surveys to the cabinet for multiyear plans to develop security-related technologies, including the Arrow anti-missile and Merkava tank projects.
