Bush administration "deeply troubled" by killing of Hamas leader by Israel
by Barry Schweid -- Associated Press
Monday, March 22, 2004

--
WASHINGTON -- After initially hesitating, the Bush administration criticized Israel on Monday for killing Sheik Ahmed Yassin, a founder of the militant Palestinian group Hamas. "We are deeply troubled by this morning's incident in Gaza," the White House spokesman said.
(...)
Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., defending Israel, said, "Just as the United States is justified in seeking out and targeting al-Qaida leaders such as Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Israeli government has a responsibility to do what it can to protect its citizens against these deadly terrorists."
(...)
Investigations regarding Hamas in this country have focused mostly on front companies and charities that funnel millions of dollars to the group.
Earlier this year, FBI Director Robert Mueller told Congress that Hamas was a threat within the United States but had not demonstrated it would act violently.

1. Didn't he say the same thing
about the gay marriages in San Francisco?

"Deeply troubled" = "safe bullshit to say in politically sticky moments"

:eyes:

2. So stop all American military aid to Israel.
Very simple.

And give the Palestinians the equivalent amount of non-military aid we give to Israel. After all, they've gotta rebuild those houses American bulldozers ran over.

9. Why should we help when clearly so many side with terror
Look at all the support for this obvious terror leader Yassin. I rest my case.

10. Are you like *?
To him things are black and white. There is no grey. I read he said "In Texas we don't do nuance. So "you're for or against us. If you are against us, you're for terror." Such rubbish!

I bet among the very large crowds mourning Yassin are people who are there not because they support terror but because he was their friend, or he was good to them, maybe helped them financially, or whatever.

8. Not all of the rest of the world...
The Australian government didn't go as far as condemning it, but in their usual arse-licking style, waffled on with what was probably a copy'n'paste of whatever the US has to say....

Violet...

6. "Deeply troubled"
What exactly does that mean? The administration doesn't like the "incident" or it likes it but doesn't like the resulting chaos and possible violence?

7. "Deeply troubled"
means the White House denies foreknowledge of an attack which will put US troops at greater risk in Iraq.
Also known as lying and ass-covering.
