Bush, Abdullah closer, but not eye to eye

"WASHINGTON, May 6 (UPI) -- President Bush and Jordan's King Abdullah Thursday said all the right words regarding their countries' enduring friendship, but cold frostiness was evident in Abdullah's slightly divergent assessment of the road to Middle East peace.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden after their meeting, Bush offered his typically effusive view of international relations with the United States.

"Your majesty, I'm proud you're here," Bush told Abdullah. "I appreciate you coming. Jordan is a friend of the United States, and friends look out for one another.""



I think it's nice that they are closer. They must be so pleased about that. But I think it's a shame that they are not eye to eye. That is sad.

Abdullah 2's family is among the most despotic and corrupt royal family in the Middle East. Bush may be voted out in November, but given the glacial pace of Jordanian political reforms it may be a while before anything changes there.

The frostiness is for the cameras. The two sock puppets have a lot in common.
