US envoy Burns meets with PA premier
US Middle East Envoy William Burns said on Saturday that the US was determined to do its utmost to ensure the success of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's disengagement plan. He described the plan as an opportunity that both parties should seize.

Meanwhile, Jordan has agreed to a request from the Palestinian Authority to help "rehabilitate" the PA security forces.

Burns was speaking after meeting in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei.

Burns said he discussed with Qurei the security situation, stressing that Washington and the Quartet, which consists of the US, United Nations, Russia and the European Union, support Egypt's efforts in this regard.
