US Muslims convicted over exports
A Texas court has convicted five Palestinian-born brothers of selling computer equipment to Libya and Syria in violation of US anti-terrorism laws.
The men - Ghassan, Basman, Bayan, Hazim and Ihsan Elashi - ran a computer business in Richardson, Texas.

They were tried on more than 20 counts of money-laundering and false statements on export documents.

Three of the brothers are facing separate charges of funnelling money to the militant Palestinian group Hamas.

The five ran a firm called InfoCom.

On Wednesday, they were found guilty of shipping money to countries regarded by the US as sponsors of terrorism, and could face up to 10 years in jail.

1. A Texas court, huh?
That's the last place I'd want to be tried for anything.

3. Spelling doesn't matter. Name is transliterated anyways. Khaddafi
is another way to spell it.

5. there are no less than a dozen spellings of the name
the 'w' is a bit out of place, or perhaps not considering the crowd he wants to run with now.. 'Qadhafi' is what I usually use, though it is but one of many. Khaddafi, Khadhafi, Qaddafi, etc., and so on are other possible. Back from when he was in the news, pretty much every Latin-script newspaper has their own, technically proper, way of spelling it.

As BBH (fucking great name to take, by the way! a great man and a true hero--good to see you down here in the Pit, like your postings upstairs) mentions, translating Arabic & English into the other is approximate at best anyway, being from differing language families.

6. Thanks.
With so many brainwashed Party hacks accusing me of being a Freeper, I figured I should hang out here, since this seems to be where the other right wingers hang out who couldn't get away with citing their garbage fascist websites as "sources" upstairs.
