US baulks at court ruling on Israeli barrier
The United States today baulked at a ruling by the world court declaring Israel's controversial West Bank barrier illegal, while the long-awaited verdict met with a measured response in Europe.

The White House, Israel's chief supporter, said it was "inappropriate" for the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue the ruling, a sentiment echoed by Democrat John Kerry, who is challenging President George W Bush in the US presidential election in November.

"We do not believe that that's the appropriate forum to resolve what is a political issue," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters.

Kerry said: "Israel's fence is a legitimate response to terror that only exists in response to the wave of terror attacks against Israel... It is not a matter for the ICJ".

Yes, clearly it's a matter for a US presidential candidate. After all, who are these World Court judges? These know-nothing upstarts have the gall to think they can say what is and isn't legitimate according to international law when John Kerry says that it's legitimate?

1. Overwhelming influence of AIPAC
is evident in all of Kerry's responses. This issue must be left until after the election, obviously.

2. Yep.
Kerry shamelessly shilling for AIPAC dough and votes. Unfortunately, Kerry's position on I/P (and most ME issues) is pretty well a carbon copy of Bush's.
