2 Qassams hit Sderot; 3 Palestinians killed in territories
Two Qassam rockets landed early Thursday morning in the southern town of Sderot. Magen David Adom paramedics treated nine residents for shock.

One of the rockets landed in a residential neighborhood, causing light damage to several houses. The second rocket landed on a gravel road near the town's public library, causing no damage.

In the West Bank, Israel Defense Forces troops killed a Palestinian militant early Thursday near the town of Tul Karm, Army Radio reported.

Israeli military sources said gunmen had opened fire on the soldiers as they mounted an arrest raid in the village of El Ar and in the ensuing battle the patrol shot one of the gunmen.

Are the attacks of civilians part of the Intifada? Yes, now that the fence is preventing suicide bomb attacks, the terrorists have resorted to rocket attacks.

1. On the matter of Qassam rockets & "attacks of civilians"
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 06:20 AM by Aidoneus
Note that one cannot give them too much credit in such matters.. the rockets and "aim" should not collide in the same sentence, so the effect (if any) is coincidental at best. I still approve of them as a response compared to some of the other options (and certainly when matched against the comperable acts of the receiving end).

This is about the time I usually set my alarm to go off, shouldn't there be another series of graves quietly filled in a Gaza shuhadah cemetary? It's been at least a day & a half since I read anything of the sort.. there was a consistancy building that was reliable. Maybe "in response" to the Qassams, but there is time that is lost between IDF killing sprees to be made up for..

3. Thought as much
the extremist viewpoints does not take into account international law, neither do the terrorists.

4. When it comes to International Law,
Israel can't take the moral high ground.

In fact, Israel has not legal legs to stand on at all, imo.

6. International Law?
What - did Israel suddenly start obeying International Law while I was out with the kids? That's the only way this comment would be applicable...

7. Extra Syrup with that Waffle
Haven't you been disagreeing with me for days on International Law?

I will condemn these rocket attacks. They are ineffective and only further cement the IDF's view that all Palestinians are terrorists deserving to die.

9. As the IDF says:
"Operations in Gaza are not helping against the Kassam rockets" (today's front page: Ma'ariv).
