Explosions reported at Israeli, U.S. embassies in Teshkent
Explosions struck the U.S. and Israeli embassies and the prosecutor's office in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on Friday, causing a number of casualties.

A suicide bomber killed two Uzbeki workers as he detonated a bomb in front of the Israeli embassy. The embassy's Israeli staff is holed up in the building and conveying messages to the Foreign Ministry.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, had no further details on the blasts that struck Friday afternoon or whether they had caused any casualties. Embassy officials weren't immediately available for comment.

Interfax reported there were deaths in an explosion at the general prosecutor's office, citing an unnamed source at the office.

1. Clarification
Preface: I do not agree with this attack! (which should go without saying, but you seem to have a tendency to think otherwise)

I think this attack shows that our strong backing of Israel, no matter the cost to the Palestinians and with no regard to the rest of the world's opinion, is leading us nowhere fast.

I think we SHOULD be an ally of Israel, only if they stop disregarding international law. Then again, Bush thinks nothing of Intl Law, so why should Sharon?

I would guess al Qaeida trying to link Israel and the US in their Islamic war

Just to confirm, YOU aren't saying this is an Islamic war are you? This may be Al Qaeda's version, but certainly not Islam's.

2. Doesn't sound like al Qaeda (much).
Not large, incompetently done; but true there were several explosions.
Let's see if anyone steps forward to take the "credit".
My guess now would be it's related to the trials.
