US to supply Jordan with 50 advanced air-to-air missiles
Despite objections of the Israeli Air Force, the US administration over the weekend approved the deal worth $39 million.

---

Jordan will pay the US $39 million for the missiles. A statement issued by the US Defense Department stated, “The deal will assist the US to implement its foreign policy by boosting the military capabilities of a major Mideast partner, which has proved itself as a vital factor to the stability of the region”.

In response, defense officials said last night that Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz did not object to the deal, in spite of the Air Force’s position to the contrary.

The Air Force is concerned that the Jordanian armament could cause other countries in the region to step up their own capabilities, and in the long run, negatively affect Israel’s aerial superiority.

1. Well, you know
profit trumps any other consideration...and why should Israel be the only benefactor of US military aid? After all our military industrial complex has to feed their kids you know.

2. $39 mill is peanuts.
I was thinking some people might be worried about the stability of
our little buddy in Jordan. The mess in Iraq has not exactly seated
the King more firmly on his throne.

I am uncertain as to the stability of that throne. I do know that Jordan is the only arab nation to offer palestinians entrance and immediate full citizenship.......pretty enlightened ruler.
