Missile strike damages Gaza Strip synagogue

A synagogue in a northern Gaza Strip settlement was hit by two anti-tank missiles fired by Palestinians as congregants gathered for morning prayers yesterday.

Eight people were treated for shock.

A short time later, Gaza militants fired five mortar shells at the Karni crossing in the central Strip and at settlements in Gush Katif in southern Gaza, Israel Radio reported. No one was injured, according to the radio report.

Palestinians continued to shell Israeli settlements in Gaza yesterday afternoon. A Qassam rocket hit a settlement, and two mortar shells landed in the yard outside a kindergarten.

BTW, I've seen numerous defenses of killing kids, even babies, as haram since they're just "future IDF soldiers". Doesn't this sort of imply that those issuing those fatwas assume it'll be ok to kill Israelis in, oh, let's say another 15-20 years or so? Sort of planning ahead?

But such voices on the Israeli side do move some exceedingly intractable elements within the Israeli polity, and there is no gaurantee that the soil in that polity will remain so stony to the seed these scatter.

IDF troops aiming at kindergartners or Muslims during their Friday afternoon prayers, I'll say the same thing.

And while I may hear about ultra-nationalist rabbis making similar statements, I'm not sure that I want to ascribe minority status to Al-Azhar faculty.
