IDF Forces Arrest Terrorist Involved in Planning Terrorist Attack
Last night (July 8, 2003), IDF forces in Wadi Burkhin (near Jenin) arrested a Tanzim-Fatah operative involved in planning a terrorist attack that was to take place shortly. During the arrest procedure, IDF forces came under fire from a number of different locations. IDF forces returned fire, hitting an armed terrorist. No injuries to IDF forces were reported.
IDF forces operate along the Israel-Egypt border
IDF forces operating along the Israel-Egypt border apprehended an Egyptian smuggler who was in possession of 50 kilograms of marijuana.

Transfer of Security Responsibility in Bethlehem
As part of the ongoing negotiations between security sources and members of the Palestinian Authority, IDF forces today at 16:00 transferred security responsibility for Bethlehem and the surrounding area A to the Palestinian Authority.
The IDF is committed to act in order to ensure the success of this transfer and will be closely monitoring the Palestinian Security forces.
The IDF continues to be responsible for the safety of all Israel's citizens, and will use any means at its legal disposal to ensure their safety.

Four Israeli Civilians Wounded in the Gaza Strip
On July 2, 2003, terrorists fired three anti-tank missiles at the Israeli community of Kfar Darom in the central Gaza Strip, lightly injuring four Israeli civilians. IDF forces returned fire.
In addition, two grenades were hurled at IDF forces along the Israel-Egypt border.
IDF forces arrest terrorist responsible for Trans - Israel Highway Murder
During an operation to arrest wanted Tanzim-Fatah operatives in Kalkilya, IDF forces spotted two armed Palestinians fleeing the area, one of whom was responsible for the June 18, 2003, terrorist attack on the Trans - Israel Highway that killed a seven-year old Israeli girl.
IDF forces called for them to halt. When the two did not, IDF forces opened fire, killing the wanted Palestinian who had carried out the above-mentioned terrorist attack. The other wanted Palestinian sustained light wounds, and was arrested by IDF forces
IDF forces operate in Nablus
On July 3, 2003, IDF forces arrested a Tanzim operative involved in planning terrorist attacks and weapons trafficking.
IDF forces arrested 13 other wanted Palestinians in the West Bank overnight.
