Separation fence construction halted around Ariel area
Israel has halted the construction of the separation fence around Ariel, leaving the Ariel area "wide open" to terror attack, as the result of petitions filed by Palestinian leader to the Israeli high court.

What about those people who say Israel ignores its own courts?

2. Yes?
Go on. What's the real plan? Sources? Don't leave me hanging like that, man.

3. Ha'aretz must be down right now...
The link doesn't work for me, and neither did the Ha'aretz site when I went to find the article that way....

Which people said Israel was ignoring the High Court ruling? The decision was in June last year, and Sharon ordered the route to be reviewed in September, and this appears to be the result. I'd say those bureacratic cogs were turning pretty quick in this particular case rather than anything being ignored...

4. I've heard some people say that Israel ignores its own courts
How do you mean the cogs are turning quickly?

The link should work now, if you still want to read it. ACRI is quite awesome, isn't it? (Although I'm reluctant to let Rabin's assassin marry, but whatever, that's civil rights.)

5. I doubt the High Court would ever get ignored...
So unless there's some past cases of it happening, I think those people are obviously wrong...

What I meant by the cogs turning quickly is that considering the review was ordered back in September, and considering the bureacratic bullshit the review could have been buried in, I think six months is pretty quick in the big scheme of things...

I share yr reluctance about Rabin's murderer, and I don't care what any civil rights group says. Screw him. He doesn't deserve a single shred of happiness for what he did...

6. You might want to review your word choice
"screw him" is exactly what he's aiming for, after all.:P

On a more serious note, it's a pity they didn't charge him with treason; I'm not sure if a civilian court (as opposed to a military court) can impose the death penalty for treason, but this is one instance where I really wouldn't have had a problem with it.
