Qurei decries growing lawlessness in PA areas
Alarmed by the growing state of lawlessness and anarchy in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei on Tuesday threatened to suspend the activities of his cabinet unless the PA security forces took drastic measures to restore law and order.

Qurei's threat came as armed gangsters in the Gaza Strip shot and killed four men in what was described by the PA Interior Ministry as a "criminally motivated" act. The victims included a 55-year-old father and his 22-year-old son.

Speaking at the weekly meeting of the PA cabinet here, Qurei expressed deep concern at the latest cycle of domestic violence. "If the security forces don't put an end to the trespasses and anarchy, the cabinet will suspend its work," he declared.

"We can't tell our people that we are in charge at a time when they are being attacked with gunfire and their properties are being assaulted. Some of the cases have resulted in murder."
Qurei stressed that the PA was trying to crack down on thugs and murderers by carrying out arrests and resuming executions.

1. How come nobody comments on current events and such?
Just curious.

This is interesting stuff. Qurei is actually trying to get a grip on the violence prior to taking command of Jenin and other West Bank cities. I posted an article about that today. He's made a speech condemning chaos, saying it isn't "resistance" and "can't lead to victory."

The withdrawal plans are well underway. Israelis recently voted in a poll to talk to the PA even if Hamas is involved. I posted about that also.

Isn't this GOOD? Doesn't this say something about tolerance and respect for the Palestinian people and their desire for self-determination?

Just asking.

2. It's the "Rebellious" Progressives
versus the "New Deal" Progressives.
