Thousands set to defy Sharon
http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=1710172005

<snip>

"HALF of the Jewish settlers due to be evacuated from the Gaza Strip two weeks from today are likely to refuse to go, raising the likelihood that the Israeli army will have to remove them by force.

Some 9,000 settlers will have to leave Gaza and a corner of the West Bank on 15 August under the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon's plan to "disengage" from those areas."

<snip>

"But Isaac Herzog, the Israeli housing minister, said half of the Gaza settlers were likely to stay on in the narrow coastal territory as an act of defiance, fuelling fears of confrontations during the pull-out.

"Our working assumption is that around half of the families will, on the morning of the evacuation, still have forgone ," Mr Herzog told army radio. "We are doing everything for this figure to be much less."

3. You have been reading the Book of Revelations, haven't you?
Here is another scenario:

The pull out will go thru with a few minor glitches.

Sharon will survive this and Bibi will not replace him as PM (Labour will regain power).

Democrats win the White House in 2008, and the US returns to the role of trying to broker a fair and just peace between Israel and Palestinians.

There wiil be a Palestinian state.

Israel will survive and will prosper without the Occupied Territories.

There will be peace.

Terrorism will remain a problem that affects the entire world, but as Iraq war ends with a total US withdrawal, and as a Democratic Administration pursues a more rational foreign policy, the terrorists will become more marginalized than ever.

Fanatics on both sides of the I/P conflict will never be happy until they win. Our job is to defeat them both!

4. Yr scenario is definately the better of the two...
Not too sure about Labour in Israel regaining power, though. They seem a bit too lost, which seems to be a problem shared with the Labour party over here...

Violet...

5. NO I am atheist.
WW3 will start their I believe just out of sheer probability. Arabs do not like Israelis. Israelis have nukes, Israelis usually retaliate in an escalating fashion. Nukes are a more available commodity now than they used to be. Russia and its satellite countries, North Korea, and Pakistan have questionable security of nukes. A nuclear event will happen in the U.S. or Israel and retaliation will be widespread and sudden more so if Israel is the one hit. Damascus, Riyadh, and Tehran will certainly be hit Pakistan is also not off the list for Israel due to the fact they have leaky nuke security. After the events that touch this off their will certainly be a land grab of the oil rich Middle East, by multiple countries Russia, china, and the U.S. I don't have to be religious to see that just a studier of history and conflict.
