Shin Bet foils pullout bomb plot
Jerusalem Post
ARIEH O'SULLIVAN
August 17, 2005

Security forces have uncovered a plot masterminded by the Islamic Jihad to attack evacuating forces or Gaza settlers during disengagement, details released for publication on Wednesday revealed.

A 10-kg explosive-belt was found hidden in a solar water heater at the Muwassi Palestinian enclave in Gush Katif Wednesday morning.

According to officials, two of the cell members were supposed to be suicide bombers who were expected to wear IDF uniforms.

In addition, it was revealed that forces detained three residents of the Muwassi and a man from Khan Younis, where it is believed the bomb-belt had been prepared.

1. Oy vey! What the hell do you have to do...
to satisfy these people?

I mean, bombing them AS THEY'RE PULLING OUT OF GAZA?! Does that make any logical sense at all?

will lose in the end. I am confident of that.

And, I don't think it's fair to paint the settlers with such a broad-brush.

7. That has to be one of the most ignorant statements I've seen.

9. Only a very tiny percentage of settlers feel that way.
Most are in the territories for economic reasons and would love nothing better than a real, meaningful peace agreement and a permanent end to bloodshed.

Nothing like painting 260,000 people with an amazing broad brush, is there? Never mind if the picture that results is totally inaccurate.

13. My opinions are colored by the Settlers I've met.
Who were bragging about their weapons and the Palestinians they planned to kill with them.

I do accept that they are not all of the Settlers, but I had gotten the impression that the majority were like them.

My apologies.

5. Why would they want to bomb them
when they are doing what the Palestines want? This is really strange...

6. I give it five minutes until some apologist crawls out of the woodwork
"Oh, but we're paying those settlers $500,000 each, they shouldn't mind being bombed..."

11. Five minutes is up...
Stay away from Vegas and Atlantic City...

And it's $250,000 each, unless the asking price for abandoning failed colonies has gone up...

10. Because they don't want peace or a state next to Israel.
This is Islamic Jihad we're talking about. Their name says it all. They want Israel destroyed. A peace agreement works against their interests. The constant friction and violence caused by occupation works in their interest.

The victims, of course, are ordinary Palestinians and Israels. Innocent Palestinians generally suffer the most.

12. OK then...
We're going to pull out of Gaza (but still maintain control of the airspace, borders and coastline) and see how this legless, armless man can swim. If all goes well (?) we will talk about the West B...OHMYGODLOOKATTHETERRORISTBOMB!!
