Netanyahu set to announce Likud candidacy
Netanyahu set to announce Likud candidacy
Jerusalem Post
Gil Hoffman
August 28, 2005

Former prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu will formally announce his candidacy for the Likud leadership on Tuesday and will call on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to publicly state that he will not quit the Likud and form another party if he loses the Likud primary.

Sharon met with his closest advisers over the weekend and reiterated that he intended to run for the Likud leadership.

His advisers said that Sharon would consider forming a new party if he lost the race, but they vigorously denied a report in Yediot Aharonot that Sharon said he would divide the Likud and support Labor chairman Shimon Peres to stop Netanyahu.

In an effort to rebuild support in the Likud, Sharon will meet later this week with key Likud activists, and he may also meet with former residents of Gush Katif. Netanyahu is planning election rallies, a press conference for Tuesday, and he will visit Ra'anana on Monday to campaign for his political ally, Ra?anana mayoral candidate Uzi Cohen.

What a joke: how does he plan to out beast the beast?
This is all posturing for the uninformed.
Sharon is beast enough, even for the blood-thirsty Likud.

2. You might be wrong about the Likud
The Likud members support Bibi. That's why he is worried that Sharon might form his own centrist party and win.
