"Asher Weisgan, the Shvut Rahel resident who fatally shot four Palestinians and wounded a fifth on August 17 motivated by opposition to the Gaza disengagement, will be charged with murder in the Jerusalem District Court Wednesday.

Weisgan, who has been pronounced fit to stand trial by a psychiatrist, has said that he did not regret his actions and that he wished that someone would do the same to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Weisgan reportedly began wearing a large skullcap to his job at an aluminum plant soon after Eden Natan Zada shot and killed four Israeli Arabs in Shfaram on August 4, despite the fact that he is not an observant Jew. On the day of the killings, he picked up the employees who were to become his victims at 4:30 P.M. as usual and was heard to tell them that he had "had it" and was "fed up with life."

He drove to the plant gate to retrieve their identity cards, stepped out of the van and began firing at the men. Then he ran toward the plant, shooting other Palestinians at close range before giving himself up to the security officer of the Shiloh settlement."
