9/11 theories to be discussed
Organizers of Chandler conference want someone held accountable
Jan. 11, 2007 12:00 AM

A national conference focusing on conspiracy theories tied to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is coming to Chandler next month.

"We are taking the information one step further, and we want to raise accountability," said Eric D. Williams, a filmmaker and conference co-chairman.

The event, "9/11 Accountability Strategies & Solutions Conference," will feature 40 speakers and 30 films. It will be Feb. 23-25 at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler.

"There are two conspiracy theories about 9/11, the government's and the other conspiracy theory," Williams said. "No matter whose theory you believe, no one has been held accountable."...

8. Whoa! Please!
Please don't imply that conspiracy theories have anything at all to do with left politics! Regardless of which side of the political spectrum most 9/11 CTers come from, the whole concept of shadow governments and new world order conspiracies has always been more associated with extreme right-wing populists like the militias and Lyndon LaRouche disciples. Even so, I wouldn't call those CTs characteristically right-wing politics, because conspiracy theories don't have anything to do with the politics that typically define left and right.

5. I which they'd focus on showing the official story is false
Alternate theories about what did happen only become relevant once that's been established.
The plausibility of the official story is not a matter of weighing it against an alternative story, it is a matter of evidence (or lack thereof).

10. I wish they would, too
If they did that honestly, the whole "truth movement" thing should be over and done with very quickly, since the evidence that the "official story is false" is so weak. A lot of CTers seem to be getting coy about advancing alternative theories, since it turns out to be pretty tough to find any that make a lick of sense, but in reality the whole "official story is false" thing is driven by nothing but a desire to make highly implausible theories seem credible by making the "official story" seem impossible. But that strategy doesn't work except among those who really, really want something (anything) other than the "official story" to be true, and those who are highly misinformed by the distorted claims on websites and videos made by such people.
