Is this true? 1,100 (or more) Israelis didn't show up for work at the WTC

on Court tv's 'First Amendment Project'. It sort of stunned me.
Does anyone know if this is accurate?

They don't mention any actual hard facts. They sort of talk about it like...Wow how could anyone believe this garbage.

Why not present the numbers of Israeli's who had bought tickets on the flights, worked in the pentagon (probably not many there), and in the WTC. Then present how many of them didn't board the flights or show up for work.

It's ludicrous, but snopes doesn't present any counter evidence, they just proclaim it false.

6. I know of one case.

That morning, I went to my daughter's school
to get her. The kids were all in a panic, crying
and trying to call their parents etc...it was utter chaos.
I gathered a group near the school office and
there was one girl in tears that I will never forget.
She was having a meltdown because her sister
worked in the towers.
I was trying to comfort her when she recieved
a cell call- her sister was fine; she had been
called the night before and told NOT to go to
work, and yes the family is Jewish.
That was the moment I KNEW it was LIHOP
at the very least.

questions that need to be asked.
As I said in a post above, I don't think there was some
massive Jewish conspiracy. Rather, there appear to
be SEVERAL countries involved in either warning or
having prior knowledge about 911.
One can NOT completely ignore the Israeli
connection to the BFEE, but there are MORE
than just Israel and they all need to be
investigated equally.
I am tired of the taboo on looking at
anything related to Israel as anti semetic.

But apparently some customers and employees of Odigo IM service were warned aprox. two hours before the attacks. Odigo is an Israeli company, with offices around the world, including NYC. Rumors abound that Odigo is a Mossad front, but who knows.

Odigo: Instant Messages Warned Of Terrorist Attacks

24. Let's sort out the anti-Semitic from the LIHOP

Please keep in mind that the claim that 1000 Jews did not show up is blather generally spread by anti-Semites, especially in the middle east.

But the idea that the Mossad knew and tried to warn is not anti-Semitic; in fact it shows Israel if anything in a heroic light as having excellent intelligence and trying to warn the US. The latter idea fits into MIHOP or LIHOP paradigms. There is evidence that a lot of intelligence services tried to warn the US. When the 9/11 commission report says a <blank> intelligence service tried to warn bush of 9/11, it could be Israel, or it could be any of a number of friendly intelligence services -- even Arab intelligence services like those of Jordan or Egypt.

After all, Sharon cancelled a trip to the US just before 9/11. It doesn't mean that Israel was behind it; it means they like others were screaming to get bush's attention.

Shit, our own intelligence services were trying to warn brick ear bush, but he was busy "cutting brush" down on the pig farm all summer.


A person can believe that the Mossad knew about 9/11 without believing that Israel was involved in the attacks or that 1000 or 4000 Jews stayed away from the WTC.

In the "Arab street" the rumour was that the Israelis or the Israeli intelligence services somehow contacted Jews in NY and told them not to go to work. That is the anti-semitic rumor. Tom Friedman of the NY Times has often referred to this slander.

I don't think even the run of the mill anti-semite thinks that there were 1000 or 4000 Israelis working in the WTC.

But the idea that the Mossad warned American intelligence is a completely different idea, and since the 9/11 commission mentions that a foreign intelligence service tried to warn the bush administration, and because there are other credible reports that middle eastern intelligence services warned of 9/11, it is neither illogical nor anti-semitic to conclude that the Mossad had some information about the impending disaster and tried to warn of it.

I thing the 4000 Jews/4000 Israeli issue is not important. If you look at the Snopes debunking site, the issue is basically treated as the same:

They are both slanders. After all, the vast majority of Israelis are Jews. The only difference is that the more paranoid anti-semitic smear is that the Mossad would inform non-Israelie American Jews in some kind of international cabalistic self defense.

The main point is that many, many Jews died on 9/11. Obviously they were not informed.

But as a sophisticated intelligence service with deep penetration into the Islamic extremist world, it is perfectly plausible that Israel's Mossad was one of the many intelligence services that tried to get shrub to stop "cutting brush" on the pig farm for long enough to focus on the fact that thousands of his countrymen were about to be slaughtered in the worst terrorist attack in history.
