John Kerry on 9/11 widows and Anne Coulter
Found this thread in GD and I thought it would present a good opportunity for discussion in this forum.

I found this paragraph particularly interesting:

The tragedy of this whole thing goes far beyond what Coulter said -- it's that everything these women have been fighting for since September 11, 2001, still is not done. Countless recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission still aren't implemented. First President Bush resisted the creation of the 9/11 Commission, then he put up road blocks to its investigation, and still today he has failed to implement all its recommendations. We don't have the port security the 9/11 Commission said we need. We don't have the border security the 9/11 Commission said we need. And Osama bin Laden remains on the loose -- while we've got 132,000 troops bogged down in Iraq who should be hunting down this mass murderer.Text

Why did Bush resist the creation of the Commission, and then why did he put up roadblocks to the investigation? What was he trying to hide?

Would he have behaved this way if the only responsibility his administration had concerning the attacks was incompetence?

It's possible, but, somehow, I don't think so.

1. Cheney created some Anti Terrorism Task Force
the day after 9-11. They never held one meeting. This demonstrates, along with many other examples, that there never was any concern of "real" terrorists striking again, because they know who did and they didn't have to worry about it happening again.

2. I had heard that
but forgot about it. It does seem that there has been no real concern about terrorist strikes (like, do we even know who was responsible for the anthrax attacks?).

And, the fact that so many suggestions made by the 9/11 Commission have gone unheeded makes it seem as if, at the very least, the Bush admin does not care about protecting us.

And, maybe the DO know something we don't and can only guess at.
