other organic commodities. She claims part of the poor job creation showing is a result of not passing an energy bill in 2001 leaving us vulnerable to $53 a barrel for crude and hurting the job market. Feet dragging on energy? Is the legislative, executive and judicial not controlled by Repugs? Is there one Republican with enough guts to stand and say, "we don't have anybody to blame but ourselves"?

Serving prison time.
Surprised she didn't accuse the Democrats of not passing that bill.

3. Um...but don't the Republicans control Congress? |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 09:12 AM by tomfodw
As in, both the House and the Senate? At the same time? I know the Democrats fought against the energy bill, and I know they briefly controlled the Senate in 2002. But still. They could have forced the energy bill through if they really wanted to. But even a few decent Republicans didn't want to. And do you know why they didn't want to?
The president's energy bill sucked. It sucked just about as badly as any of the president's other stupid, sucky ideas (using the term loosely) sucked. That's why it didn't pass. It would have lowered oil prices by maybe a dime, while ruining one of the most pristine wilderness areas left on the planet for maybe six months' worth of oil. It was a total giveaway to the president's paymasters in the extraction industries. It sucked. Like this entire administration sucks. Like Elaine ("I hate overtime") Chao sucks.
Have I made my point that the energy bill sucked?

4. All Bush has to do is drop drilling in ANWR and the energy bill would pass |
|
But compromise is a mortal sin to republicans.

6. I know. That cracked me up. When you can't get something done when |
|
you control all branches of government (thank God they couldn't) get the hell out of the way and let someone do the real work.
Of course, they don't have any policy apparatus, everything is just politics.
I have been surprised that there hasn't been much focus on the fact that they do control everything.

And Chao believes that an energy bill from the oil prez and vice-prez wouldn't do the same for the oil companies? Right-o.
