EXCESSIVE BLINKING: a sign of non-comprehension or lying. |
|
That's my understanding of the body language implications of someone blinking like Bush did tonight.

5. This brings up an interesting question. |
|
Why don't we have each candidate hooked up to a polygraph in these debates?
I mean it. What exactly is the argument against something like that?
And what candidate in their right mind is going to come out and say no?

9. The argument against it, of course, is... |
|
It's an unconstitutionaly invasion of privacy. Oh wait, the constitution doesn't apply any more.
Then the argument against it is that it would tend to demean the office of the presidency. Oh wait, that doesn't apply any more either.

12. I'm not sure how ensuring that a candidate for the highest |
|
office in the world is telling the truth is unconstitutional.
Their privacy rights are superceded by the rights of everyone else to be sure that the person that they are handing a MASSIVE amount of power to won't abuse it.

They measure your stress over an answer, not your truthfullness.
I've been in a group of 7 people taking a polygraph, 4 flunked the first time through, and passed on a retake on a different day. I had to restart mine, because at first the blood pressure cuff was too tight, and instead of thinking "Yes" or "no" as I said it, I was thinking "omg, my arm is turning blue, I just know it, it's getting numb, what if it falls off?"
I couldn't get past the first few control questions without a false deceptive reading ...
1. What's 2+2? Me: 4. (Chart looks good.)
2. Are you sure? Me: (silently) in my math system, it's 4, but what about other math systems? This is really a matter of how I perceive reality, who am I to say it can only be 4? (outloud) Yes. (chart shows I'm being deceptive.)
They just aren't accurate. The real value of them comes as much from the skill of the interviewer in getting confessions out of you as you take it, which wouldn't happen here. Plus they are more for yes/no answers, not lengthy statements.
Lie detector tests are just evil.

6. He's way over his head and it shows. His answers are pointless. |
|
He doesn't address Kerry. He just spouts his own crap. Same shit different day--only less blinking and improved facial expressions. Big deal. He still circumvents arguments and sounds like a moron.

8. The "lie" was acting like he was listening respectfully to Kerry |
|
He was blinking up a storm while making sure he didn't make faces. He was pouring his whole body into not making faces. How can he fight a war on terror when the poor man is forced by the liberal press to concentrate ENTIRELY on not making faces? He's only human!!

16. I don't know if it's been proven but I worked with a guy who blinked.. |
|
very rapidly when he lied or was making up an answer to a question that he didn't know the answer to, which he did from time to time. He did not do it when he was being truthful.
One day I finally said to him that I knew he had just lied to me abt something and mentioned the blinking. He had no idea that he was doing it (and did admit that he had just lied to me.)
