Where are all the tragic deaths of bus-trip seniors?
Seriously, if there is a terrible threat from Canadian prescription drugs, where is the truth? Are Canadians dying in droves? What of the bus trips out of New England and the northern border states full of seniors buying prescription drugs over the last few years? Were there massive numbers of deaths that I haven't heard about?

And, I thought NAFTA was going to create a wonderful free market North America!!!

3. Can't he tell the truth about ANYTHING?
He can never just disagree. Why does it always have to be this character assassination shit with these people? Aren't people wondering about how often he pulls this tactic out of the bag? Don't people find it a little weird that anyone who disagrees with him is viciously attacked and mocked and deemed to be dangerous?

2. but they *might*
He's applying the same logic as that he uses for the Iraqi war, that contrary to all the facts, it's still possible, and he's certain of that and utterly resolute, even though there is no evidence to believe it.

He is bankrupt.

He has been playing poker with an empty hand all these years. All anyone had to do was to make him show his hand. And now he finds himself playing against a guy who doesn't play poker, but is a master chess player. He is now outgunned.

Bye bye you fucking maniac Bush!

4. Katharine Q. Seelye asked the same thing at 9:45 tonight

Bush is trying to have it both ways on the importation of drugs from Canada. He wants to make sure that they cure you instead of kill you. But he is reserving the right to approve the importation in December -- AFTER the election. But, Kerry suggests, would he really go back on his inclination to do what's best for the big drug companies? Bush comes back to say, "If they're safe, they're coming.'' (Where are the dead Canadians?)

ever even been a problem with drugs coming in from Canada.

7. This is deeply puzzling to me....
...the fact of the matter is that we are discussing RE-importation: Canada gets these drugs from the U.S., then the U.S. wants to buy them back from Canada. And no, last time I was there--2002--the ditches were not littered with dead Canadians.
But here's the thing: Canadians are not waving a magic wand over these vials and just mysteriously altering their cost.
CANADA HAS SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.
The government of Canada negotiates with Merck or Pfizer or whoever and says, we're gonna buy 163,000 packets of the purple pill etc., here's what we're willing to give you.

For as long as it's more important for * et el to benefit the drug companies than it is to provide the best possible health care for ordinary taxpayers, you will not get drugs as cheaply. But to say, oh, look, John Kerry wants to put the Federal Government in charge of your health care! Commie! is all very well, but then to turn around and declare that you're going to fix the present system by piggy-backing on somebody ELSE'S Socialism is okay????

I just cannot get my head around this.

6. is it legal to take the prescription across the border to the USA?
I'd just fill ours text time we're up there (close enough for a short weekend trip), but i don't know if the border guards will let us back in with the prescriptions. Dorgan takes a bus up with with seniors and it's okay, but then again, he's a senator.
