Kerry thinks. Bush doesn't. But because Bush doesn't think about things in depth, it is easier for him to give simple answers that appeal to simple people.
Can Kerry connect to people in the same way? Can he appeal to them emotionally as well as logically?
there is a simple way to show empathy and thought in simple terms, and that is through narratives... speaking to people directly and saying to them "imagine for a second that you are..."
I would like to have heard a narrative in response to the abortion question: "Imagine for a moment what it would feel like to be raped and beaten by someone and then a month later to find that you are pregnant with their child..."
Can Kerry pull off these types of conversions on moral/social issues where many Americans see the underlying morality as black or white, he couldn't help but score massive points...

Kerry gave the example of being raped by ones father. I thought it was pretty darned effective. If the polls are actually true, and Kerry doesn't pull this off, which I seriously doubt, then it is not John Kerry's fault. You can lead a country to the polls, but you can't make it think.
