AARP conventioneers pick Kerry (in Las Vegas)
AARP conventioneers pick Kerry

By ERIN NEFF
REVIEW-JOURNAL

The 20,000-plus members of AARP who are convening in Las Vegas represent the most courted age group in presidential politics.

On Wednesday, they overwhelmingly thought Sen. John Kerry won the final presidential debate, and many said the Democratic nominee also will win a showdown for their hearts today when he addresses the group. President Bush also will be in Las Vegas, but will not speak at the convention.

"I wouldn't come to speak to us either if I had sold us down the river on Medicare reform," said Artie Lynch, 57, of California.

{snip}

"I'm a Republican, and I can't in good faith vote for a president who promised to reform Medicare but left us with double-digit premium increases and no way to get cheaper drugs," Lynch said.

1. They vote, too.
In huge numbers.

Bush really blew it with that fake prescription drug package for seniors.

2. Actually AARP did their members no favours either, and
many of them have voiced their dissatisfaction with AARP's sellout.

3. I remember
they gave a luke warm endorcement of Bush's prescription drug plan for seniors because they thought it was at least a start. But it turned out to be complicated and then the drug companies raised their prices so it turned out to not be worth the paper it was printed on.

I don't think AARP will get fooled by anything the Chimp does again.
