T: Cheney says he's angry father
E: Cheney brought it up, in debate and Cheney thanks Edwards. Shouldn't have a dividing issue, like bush is using it
T: Isn't unsual to bring up someone else's family member
E: In this case, Cheneys have brought it up, in debate with Lieberman in 2000, Cheney talked about a few weeks ago, in Edwards debate. So since K/E were talking about their respect on the cheneys, that's why bring it up.
T: But Cheneys are angry, quotes Lynn. Was it real?
E: Can't get inside their heads, shouldn't become poltical football
T: But the cheney are playing football
E: American people can see K/E respect the Cheneys

5. Edwards said Kerry was simply trying to put a personal face on the issue |

Edwards emphasized that the Cheney's are wrong to criticize Kerry because Kerry is a good man and he and Kerry respect how Cheney's have handled this issue in their family. Mentioned all the times the Cheney's have talked about Mary being gay publicly and the mention of this in the VP debate that caused no controversy. Said Kerry was simply putting a personal face on his answer that sexual preference is not a choice.
Edwards was outstanding in this lengthy detailed interview- great on Cheney's unethical involvement with Halliburton, Bush administration's "crony capitalism", Cheney's deliberate misleading statements on Iraq, etc.

What the fuck is the deal? I guess they just wanted Mary swept under the rug. Most 'pubs would as soon as burn gays at the stake as look at them, so this is getting ridiculous that we are supposed to believe they are 'outraged, OUTRAGED!' at Kerry's insensitivity by his mentioning Cheney's lesbian daughter.
Oh yeah, and being gay is only taboo because these bigots have made it so. Fuck them.

which means that they received talking points from the RNC about this. That means that the RNC *WANTS US* to keep talking about this.
If we don't talk about lesbians, we might talk about:
1) How bush* doesn't remember saying he doesn't care where Bin Laden is?
2) "Oh, never mind!"
3) His not answering questions on Rove v Wade, the minimum wage, etc
4) His apparently drug-induced smile
5) his repeated lies
IMO, the best strategy is to respond to questions about how Kerry hurt the Cheney family's feelings is to ask "How many of the 9/11 victims families are hurt by the fact that bush* doesn't care about bringing OBL to justice?"
That would give the media something else to talk about beside lesbians, and whether Kerry was right or wrong. If that were our response, they'd have to report it. Instead of playing defense, we'd be on the offense, and after all, that's how you win.
