Votes don't add up... What am I missing? |
|
We all have stories of Republicans or 2000 Bush voters switching to vote for Kerry. Why don't the poll numbers show this?
How many of you know someone who voted for Gore in 2000 that is now voting for Bush? I don't know of any.
I can't believe any Democratic would vote for Bush at this point.
BTW, In case you haven't heard... IRAQ IS BECOMING AN EVEN HUGER FUCKING MESS.
Wake up America!!!

2. There will be some, guaranteed. |
|
Others here have mentioned family members who voted Gore in 2000 but will vote for Chimpy this time. For the sole reason that they've swallowed the Kool-Aid that * will keep us "safe." When people fail to apply any sort of reason for their vote, there is no point in wasting resources trying to convince them of their error.
However, I fully believe that there are MORE ex-* voters than ex-Gore voters out there, so Kerry will get the edge.

...baffling to me as well. several things have made me really question the polls this year. is the media just keeping this close so we'll stay tuned in to their commercials and watch "joey" after the debates?
1) the gore factor: who in the world who voted for gore in 2000 would vote for bush in '04? 2) the iraq factor: i suspect that bush has probably picked up some numbers here but you can't expect me to believe that he hasn't lost a lot too 3) the my-god-who-did-i-vote-for factor: there have GOT to be a ton of people who bought into shrub's "compassionate conservative" bullshit in '00 who notice that was all campaign rhetoric and are not being fooled again. more vote losses here. 4) the nader factor: c'mon. i personally know several people who voted for this jackass in '00 who are voting kerry in '04. these CAN NOT be the only ones.
and on a related note: 5) the land-line-abandon factor: the 18-34 demographic (traditionally more liberal) have been missed in the polling. this is really the only excuse i am allowing myself to give the pollsters for screwing this up.
so seriously... what is up with these poll numbers? i am confused as hell.

I don't really care about the polls.
I think you are forgetting about the scared Americans who won't admit that Bush isn't protecting us as best he could. They want to believe that everything in the world is fine... no matter what. They ignore any bad press and only listen to the Bushies. I think this is why they have the "everything is going fine" strategy.
I do think your points out trump this one though.
We hear all the time about someone leaving the dark-side, but rarely about anyone moving from Gore to Bush.
It will be a sad day on Nov. 3rd if we are wrong.

5. No doubt, the polls are ILLOGICAL! They're rigged... |

fabricated, controlled by big business interests, THEY'RE ALL BULLSHIT! No one who voted for Gore or even Nader is voting for Bush, NO WAY, NO HOW! These polls just suspiciously too close and suspiciously almost always pushed over to the Bush side, even with the margin of error. If the poll is 46-44 Bush and the MOE is 5, why couldn't they say 45-45 or 44-47 Kerry?
These polls are CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!

6. so true. It doesn't add up. |
|
Think about it:
- Gore won the popular vote in 2000.
- Since then, the Democratic Party has been energized and united.
- We have registered hundreds of thousands of new voters to defeat Bush.
- I have heard countless stories - both first hand and second hand - about people who voted for Bush in 2000 who are angry and will be voting for Kerry.
Yet we keep hearing from the corporate media and their pollsters that it's a very close race. It doesn't make any logical sense and my paranoid side is worried that the fix is in.
