CNN reports that Bush at WH today
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 06:29 AM by PCIntern
taking a day off.

WTF? What's going on here? He has exactly two weeks to get it together and he's in DC? This is most interesting - all 'lazy' jokes aside, soemthing must be brewing - it's either very good news for us or very bad news. I don't trust these guys one iota.

On the one hand, it is possible that they are having a 'strategery' meeting to do all out panic campaign a la Gore in the last week of 2000 - (a successful one I might add, if he...oh don't start, right?) flying him hither and yon 24/7 until the election.

OTOH, there could be something in the works...surprise! Monday AM, you wake up to (fill in the blank). The ground itself trembles...WTF - you can't believe what's going on now!?! Where did this come from? Now what? This throws everything into disarray - all bets are off.

As a Philadelphia Eagles fan, I recall the days of Dallas quarterback Roger Staubach - Eagles leading by 10 with 12 minutes left and you just knew...KNEW, you were doomed, and it would start to fall apart even as you watched. That sense of foreboding was in the air.

This age of Rove and Gillespie et al. remind me of those times

1. They are going to draw and quarter Kerry and need a bridge for his head.
Cromwell Bush is right at what he does the best. Kill off people.

2. Or, could be simply the need...
... for a fresh photo-op of Bush going to church, to convince the undecideds that he really is a moral, church-goin' regular guy. For the most control over something like that, it's much easier to do in DC.

Or, yes, he could be practicing an announcement for Monday. One never knows with this bunch.

7. Have you EVER seen a photo of Bush* attending church in DC?

Because I sure don't remember any. The only church photos I remember are one from Texas and the ones in D.C. that had to do with 9/11, or the ones having to do with the shuttle disaster, visiting the pope in Rome, etc.

ALL COMBINING CHURCH AND STATE, NOT JUST PRACTICING HIS OWN RELIGION.

Damn. That pissed me off, just thinking about it.

13. Unlike Kerry, Bush doesn't go to church regularly
Unless it's for a photo op. And some people still insist he is "a God-fearing" man, implying that Kerry isn't.

at all, going to Crawford instead of the WH would be a bad idea since he's tanking.

8. Who can say?
Campaigning is HARD WORK, what with all the speechin' and debatin' and baby kissin' and such. It's HARD WORK. El jefe actually deigned to speak with reporters a couple of days ago -- it was likely an exhausting experience for him, considering how rare it is, and it was HARD WORK.

Of course, he hasn't had that physical, and he has been acting mighty odd lately. Perhaps it's health related?

Or maybe he decided to take a day off to get ready for the home stretch.

I seriously can't imagine what surprise they could pull. Maybe pulling Osama out of their ass, or Sharon launching a raid into Iran to help out his plaything Bush.

9. My guess
is that they're gonna try a campaign bombshell andthey don't want him out there without careful briefing of the answers to obvious questions.

Also, maybe to get his meds under control - he's vascillating between extreme anger and passive twitchiness. Sounds like a little titering is in order.

10. he DOES love time off
He does love time off, in fact this was an issue in the 2000 campaign, with him insisting on taking time off. But I am sure there is a surprise. It will be some ttpe of terrorist threat, real or not...

11. I dont' know about that...
even the compliant media like FOX and ABC are getting a little pissed off at the fear issue being exploited by Bushco especially Cheney. Some of the dittoheads on FOX have been heard to mutter under their collective breaths about terror and political expediency. But they don't use that word, because it's just too 'big'.

12. He wants to appear Presidential and as if he really is a leader-photo ops
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 08:00 AM by wishlist
Since he has not been a leader with regard to Iraq and health care or any other problem and did not appear very 'Presidential' in the debates, I expect him to do some things to bolster his image as the great leader and Commander in Chief, even if nothing more than photo ops or getting news media to mention him being at the White House doing important things. That way everyone can't say that while there is a panic over flu shot shortage and chaos in Iraq, that he is out campaigning instead of being the President.

14. this does seem to be bizarre behavior

Even if he were cooking up an alert, he could do that while on the road. There are literally hundreds of flunkies to iron out any details.

I recall seeing a quote from Rove or Mehlman a few days ago asserting that Bush would be barnstorming nonstop till Nov. 2; this puts the lie to that claim rather forcefully.

I think he's ill.

15. Sunday is primo campaigning day, with so many available to invite
to a whole series of exclusively GOP gatherings. He could have been flown to events in three different states, and the question is what got cancelled? Aren't the press given advance schedules for at least a few days at a time?

18. Perhaps he's not feeling well...
first of all, he frankly is not used to hard work. We need to get past the Saturday night Live idea that this is all a big joke. He was not kidding. Perhaps all of this is getting to him physically. He's not 38 years old, he's 58. He's used to going to sleep at an early hour without much running around - it is conceivable that exhaustion has overtaken him. This might be due to age, medical condition, or medication issues. Ever been so frigging tired that you literally can't keep your eyes open, and you feel like if you don't sleep you're gonna die? MAybe that's how he feels.

Also, perhaps he's not as effective on site in campaign stops, since his message has been received and heard. WTF can he do but go home and listen to them strategize? Is there a single person voting who doesn't understand him and his character? Maybe they figure that he's just not that effective in shifting poll numbers on the road and looks better in and around the Capitol as the so-called President.

Or...maybe there's something going on about which we know nothing - something like that which was alluded to by that Senator who closed his DC offices down and wouldn't let his kids visit DC. Whether legitimate or not, that is worth thinking about. Of course,at this stage, a terrorist incident of any type points out that we are no safer than we were and would only serve to allow them to attempt to postpone the election.

I would bet a months salary that Bush* has spent less time at the Whitehouse than he has at the Whitehouse in 2004. He has spent far more time on the Campaign trail or on Vacation.

Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 08:56 AM by amen1234
for 40% of his time....

that's hurting bush*....many feel that he is LAZY....so oooo, KKKarl will do a BIG news deal about this ONE weekend, where bush* actually stays at the WH, and no doubt, watches football games....

also, it could be bush* has a major medical problem (as many suspect from watching the debates)...and bush* needs some medication "adjustment", in a controlled enviroment, where the doctors can watch bush* and adjust his meds...

it's really pathetic that "bush* at WH" is a major story for American National News...sad...real sad....

Things may have changed - maybe they coldn't tear up as many Dem registrations so they need to go down there a couple more times to make it look good. Final projected result, Bush 97.5%, Kerry, 1%, Pat Buchanan, 1.5%, all from Palm Beach county.

Kerry's been hammering him on the flu vaccine. Maybe Bush (I mean Rove) is working on a response to that.

Administration change. Are they desperate enought to dump Cheney and replace him with McCain?

Medical emergency. Another stroke?

Could be anything. :scared:

38. I think he's in a pickle
It's too close to Nov to spring a whopper. People would resent the implication they're stupid, and would see it as election desperation.

Why can he do something all of a sudden now that he couldn't do for four years. I'm just going to place my faith in peoples abstract nature.

Watch him try to find ways to get all the air time he can now though. He'll all of a sudden want to be Mr. Chummy with the press. Press conferences, whatever. It still won't matter folks. Elvis has left the building.
