There are more Kerry supporters out there than you might think...
I live in a heavily Republican area near Atlanta, and you wouldn't believe how many times people have come up to my husband, my sister, or me when we're wearing Kerry-Edwards shirts and told us how glad they are to see someone publicly supporting Kerry. Just this morning, a lady came up to us in a local restaurant and talked to us for about five minutes, starting with how much she loved my husband's K-E shirt.

Yes, there are still W bumper stickers around here, but I've been amazed to see an equal number of Kerry stickers. This is Bob Barr's old district, and it's SO encouraging to see the tide turning like this.

1. First of all, Welcome to DU
And I too know what you mean. I live outside the metro area and there are more and more signs of cracks in the Republican armor. Although, the front page article and front section gushing over the rise of the GOP in Georgia might suggest otherwise.

There are more of us out here than they think....
Some just don't want their cars vandalized, signs stolen, yards trashed, etc. But they will be voting for the right choice on Nov. 2.

5. Always wear our Kerry Gear
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 10:04 AM by goclark
I am always surprised and happy to see the reaction to my Kerry pins etc.

I wear them wherever I go.

Just yesterday I was in a mall...

2 young children were pointing to my pens and telling their moms," Kerry. Kerry,Kerry!"

- In case you don't know it already, Kids LOVE Kerry! They think he is so cool and NICE. They see Bush as scary and mean. Kids will say,"Bush kills people!"

That's why I made stickers that say." Vote For Kerry, Bush is scary!"
It fits perfectly because it's Halloween!

6. Kerry Supporters in Augusta
I live in Augusta GA which is pretty damn Republican. Since the election season began, I have seen an almost even amount of Kerry-Edwards stickers and yard signs. Don't believe all the polls!

15. In a way it makes sense
he's been working with the ACLU on the Patriot Act, so I suppose....

But still, I get a shudder whenever I think of a guy that has his politics and looks like every B-grade WWII movie Japanese Prison Camp guard to boot, on our side.

Just plain gives me the willies, I tell ya.

18. Indeed -- I live in a rural conservative area in WI
I see houses here where families have been conservative for generations and yet I see "Vote out Bush/Cheney" signs in their yards, and "Defend America/Defeat Bush" bumper stickers on their cars. They may not be pro-Kerry, but a vote for the Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party, or Nader by any of these individuals is not something to be castigated at this point.

21. I hope you are right. In CT, I am seeing so many Bush/Cheney....
signs I want to puke. Though I beleive that CT is safe for Kerry, it's still diserning to see this.

23. Good to hear, but...
There is no way you have seen just as many Kerry stickers as W'04. I live just outside Atlanta as well, and as much as I'd like to agree with you, I can't.

I definetly have seen fewer Bush stickers than 2000, but I still rarely see Kerry stickers. Pretty much everyone that I work with will be voting for Bush. It makes me sick to live and work here, but until the job market improves I have no choice.

It's good to hear that you are getting a lot of support. It really can be frustrating at times.

25. Out here and where my husband and I work...
...we do see an equal number of Kerry stickers. Go to Cobb County, however, and it's a different story. I was in a traffic jam on I-75 north of town the other day, and K-E was outnumbered two to one.

27. Well hey Morillon! Welcome to a fellow ATL-ien....
in any case - i'm glad you're seeing support on your side of the perimeter. Here in Cobb it definitely is a different story. However, i cna definitely say I see hardly any bush signs at all. And i find Kerry signs in surprising places. (like the wealthier neighborhoods). Nothing like Decatur for instance, tho.

26. I'm from MA so it probably doesn't mater...
But this election season I've seen a lot more signs, buttons and bumper stickers for K/E than I have for chimp boy. In fact I've only seen maybe two Bush 04 stickers in the past two weeks (and I do a lot of driving) compared to about a dozen Kerry stickers. Furthermore I live near the NH border, and a lot Kerry signs have been popping up in the area. Why just this morning I crossed the border to get supplies (read: beer and cigarettes) and saw a car with a NH plate and a Kerry Edwards bumper sticker.
An interesting story, then I'll let you go, back in 2000 there was a house I drove past on the way to work that had a Bush sign on the lawn. I remember because I would always grind my teeth every time I drove by it. The owner of the sign even tied red, white, and blue balloons to the sign when the supreme court hijacked the election, further pissing me off.
This year two signs grace the lawn of the same house, both for conservative candidates, but only on the local level. No sign anywhere supporting bush.
Take it for what it's worth...
