Relaxation and anxiety? I'll take relaxation.

Most of you know all this, but it's better than posting an "explain to me" copycat thread in the Lounge.

Bush is losing newspaper endorsements and has about 20 to Kerry's 35 or so. What is more, Kerry is leading newspaper endorsments by circulation 5:1. At least four newspapers that endorsed Bush last in 2000 can't endorse Bush this time.

Medicare, health insurance, Iraq, gas prices, jobs, consumer confidence, and the environment are not helping Bush right now. All he's got going for him is religion, abortion, and hatred/fear.

We know that very few are going from Gore in 2000 to Bush in 2004. We know that there are more than a few going from Bush in 2000 to Kerry in 2004. We know that new voter registrations are predominately going to our side. We know that polls oversample and don't take into account new voters and cell-phone-only users.

So what's the problem?

Sure Bush can still win with some sort of nasty old trick or rabbit pulled from his butt. But that's the only way he can win. And each day we get closer to the election, the odds of something evil working lessen Everybody I know -- political or non-political, Kerry or not for Kerry -- know that Bush might pull Osama naked through D.C. in a circus cage any day. If we all know it, it's lost its value.

Do what you can. Donate to Kerry or DNC or something. Call people. Talk to people. Make sure Kerry voters get to the polls. Do what you can and then realize you've done all that you can.

And then relax. Enjoy the Fall air. There's baseball and football and celebrity poker! Relax.
