The Leadership has been infiltrated with selfish and greedy guys. The Good Leaders of yesteryear are just about gone. And the Pubs want it that way.

And high adrenalin levels cannot be sustained by ANY mammal.

Also, adrenalin causes a FIGHT or FLIGHT response. The necons made their fatal error when they effectively cut off all avenues of escape.
