My second Kerry yard sign was stolen over the weekend (in RI)
Two Bush signs have popped up on either side of my house.

This is Rhode Island!!! Ouch.

I've ordered 10 more signed for two day delivery. Any ideas on how to catch the folks?

make sure your neighbors see you walking around the yard with it. Your yard sign theft will stop...., no one wants to take a chance on getting shot over a High-School prank. Even if they do love *. They won't chance picking rock-salt out of their asses.

P.S.

This is what I did down here in Florida, and no one has even attempted to touch my yard sign....

;)

6. It was roundly condemned here on DU when I brought it up
...and eventually the thread was locked. But my town had been hit by Kerry sign thieves several times while Bush signs remained untouched.

Until Saturday night when I repaid the favor. There are 11 Bushie signs now sitting with my recycling trash. Wrapped in a green plastic bag with the kids used nappies.

7. Seriously, I live in Mississippi, my sign's been up for months, and...
no one has touched it.

On my car, are three stickers: Kerry Edwards 2004; Southerners for Kerry; and Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot. No one has bothered my car.

It's wild that many of the accounts of stolen cars or defaced stickers are coming from the north.

8. Put a small sign next to the sign stating something to the effect of,"
Due to the theft of two previous signs...this sign is under constant video surveillance." and then set up a camera in your window. :hi: Good luck.

9. I saw somewhere a rumor that
the RNC was paying folks five bucks for every stolen Kerry sign.

Does anyone else know if this is verifiable?

Down here in L.C. (a traditionally repuke town) I've surprisingly only seen Kerry signs. Hooray.

Sorry about your signs. Maybe get some razor wire for the next one or wire it with an electrical fence. Fish hooks are definately cheaper though. Hope there aren't any little curious kids in the neighborhood though.

11. All kinds of ideas:
Motion detector alarm. Train a camcorder on it. Lots of different sticky things that I'm sure lots of people will suggest.

A replacement sign that says, "You may steal my Kerry sign but you won't steal the election again!" A couple of DUers put up two this weekend in that vein, hoisted them high enough into a tree so the criminals would have to jump for 'em, and covered them with sewing needles. LOL.

My alltime favorite is to put the alarm and camcorder on it and call your local TV stations. Tell them you have video footage. Let them know the Bushbots are trying to steal the election again. Hell, get some good PR for us in exchange for the cost of the sign.

14. We've been hit time and time again
They stole 70% of the signs in Wausau, WI the week butt head appeared here.
The thefts continue, this weekend they stole 40 signs from my neighborhood.
Every person that has a sign stolen should make a police report.

16. wow...
...in "the biggest little" no less. It would have to be one of only a few troublemakers (probably one of the neighbors) who still support GW in this state. I only know a few people who support the * here, usually the fundie christians (who apparently dont appreciate the fact that RI was founded on religious tolerence). I haven't done any signs, but I'm not in a high traffic area either, althogh with stuff like this happening I may put one up just to show solidarity.
