4. that's a good link for final polls but, |
|
the chart at Polling Report looks at polls in the weeks leading up to the election. The point is that Gore was usually behind in the final 2 weeks.

6. I am aware that gore was down... |
|
If fact I read that 39 out of the published final national pre election polls showed Woody winning..
I think this race will be razor close... I hope and pray Kerry wins but I don't have a clue who will win...

If DU and the blogosphere were big back then, there'd have been mass suicides by liberals in late october.

3. someone posted an extraordanry piece this morning here |
|
the point of which said: Incumbants that are polling 50% do not go up by election day, while their challengers go up on election day.
Point being: If you poll 50% and your the incumbant youve reached your peak, while the challenger will go up.

5. and that was gore vs an unknown bush |
|
with an energized repub and an lethargic unsuspecting dem contingent.
now its bush with a madmans record, vs kerry, a much stronger candidate. and a very energized, angry, anti-bush electorate.

8. Why is this different? |
|
This page shows many polls with Gore up: http://www.pollingreport.com/2000.htm#LATESTI think the dates of these polls are later than those on your page.

10. I've Seen Comparisons of the Last Poll Before the Election |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 11:00 AM by ribofunk
showing that Zogby had Gore winning by 2%, and Harris and Fox(!) had a dead heat.
One Edit: Doesn't take away from the basic point, though. The polls now are more favorable to Kerry than they were to Gore.

12. WRONG -- the last Zogby poll showed Gore pulling ahead |
|
Zogby was the only pollster to conduct a poll entirely over the weekend preceding election day. He was, therefore, the only pollster who was able to take into account the full impact of the last-minute revelation regarding Bush's DUI arrest.
All of the other polls failed to reflect a large swing in favor of Gore among late deciding voters. Voters who made up their minds during the final days of the campaign ended up voting for Gore by a margin of 2 to 1.

I thought there were several other daily tracking polls back then, though, including Washington Post/ABC and CNN/Gallup.

15. 500,000 votes is a small percentage - but Gore did win |
|
These polling fools - especially Gallup need to go to jail for this attempt at electioneering.
