1. Does it make sense
That his approval ratings will be around the same percentage of people who actually vote for him? Is it just my odd thought process?

4. Not so sure about that....

I've been doing a lot of reading on conservative sites... and they think Bush has done a terrible job.... but they still think he's preferable to Kerry. Bush will actually get a lot of votes from people who think he's been a failure as president.

5. that seems to make sense...
i've thought about that. but there are people out there who would never vote for kerry no matter what. simply because they're republican and won't ever vote for a democrat, or because they beleive the mediaspin b*llshit or whatever. so they'll still vote for bush.
or, if we're lucky, they won't vote at all.
i bet there are a lot of republicans who won't vote at all. i hope so.
but i love seeing his approval plummet. it amazes me how high it still is...

10. Well, that's if they registered to vote and DO it.
I think the unpolled cell phone generation and newly registered voters will create a shocker for media organizations come Nov. 2

2. Wow. That's a hell of an approval rating.
If it's accurate, it's over for Bush. There is NO CHANCE that an incumbant with a 44% approval rating gets (re)-elected.

None. Nada, Zilch.

CNN, MSGOP, etc can report all the bogus polls they want, but if this is his cap -- it's all moot.

6. If Bush has an average 45-48 approval rating he LOSES.
It's as simple as that.

9. You can probably even go as high as 49%
Since his approval ratings represent his absolute ceiling.

7. I think his absolute minimum number is 40%.
That's the billionaire (.001%) & Kool-Ade Fundie (39.999%) level.

8. I'm going to be optimistic enough to think
that there are quite a few 'old line' republicans who will quietly vote for Kerry this time. They don't yap about it and probably aren't polled or don't answer honestly. They won't tell their repug friends and will simply slink in and vote because they know that Shrub is a disaster area.

11. Last paragraph is the most important..In the week before the 2000 election
43 polls were conducted. 39 had Bush leading. The next Tuesday, Al Gore won the popular vote!

13. This last paragraph struck me
"The horserace numbers are eyed most suspiciously; Abromowitz notes that in the last week of the 2000 campaign, there were 43 polls. Mr. Bush was leading in 39. The next week, Al Gore won the popular vote."
