Kerry Republicans! Spread the word! |
|
Remember Reagan Democrats?
If Kerry wins decisively or, dare I say it, in a landslide will the talking heads on cable news take it upon themselves to coin this new term - "Kerry Republicans"?
This is what I've been hoping for. I want a stake plunged through the heart of this beast now. This was my main reason for supporting Wes Clark in the primaries. I thought he would be the candidate most likely to destroy once and for all this evil neo-conservative anti-American anti-human agenda.
I supported John Kerry originally in the moveon.org straw poll and moved my support to Clark when he joined the race. After Kerry won I threw all my energy behind him.
Now I really believe that Kerry has the potential to win in a very decisive way, barring any major shenanigans by the RNC.
We all know how powerful language is and if/when people begin to hear the term "Kerry Republican" we may begin to see a sea change. We all know that the majority of American's in reality support the issues and ideals that progressives/liberals care about and work for. The problem is that Republicans have been masterful at demonizing the word "liberal" and using language to manipulate people into actually working counter to their own best interests.
I want Kerry Republicans to become the new "meme", if you will, after the election. (honestly, I really don't know what that word "meme" means. I've only ever read it on DU)
Let's hear it for all of the new "Kerry Republicans"!
Spread the word!
Recently, especially after seeing "Going Upriver" and thinking about John Kerry's work in bringing down BCCI and his work in uncovering Iran-Contra, I think that John Kerry is absolutely the perfect person to be in the White House at this period in our history. I think he has the potential to be a great President. It won't be easy of course and he'll have many enemies - we'll need to watch his back, but he could be great.
We're gonna need all the Kerry Republicans we can get. :toast:

I guess my main point is that when we're out talking to people, especially republicans, we should casually mention all the Kerry Republicans we're hearing about.
water-cooler - grocery-store line kind of talk.
I think it would make a difference.:-)

5. In the Northern Virginia Kerry Office |
|
They had Kery signs for veterans, Hispanics, gays -- everyone except "Republicans for Kerry." That one was sold out.

6. Saw something odd yesterday |
|
well actually a friend of mine did and asked me about it. He said he saw a Kerry sticker on a car and an upside down "W'04" sticker next to it. I told him I thought perhaps he was a former Shrub supporter, who is now supporting Kerry. Perhaps a Kerry Republican? Anybody else seeing this?

8. Yes, I have seen this too. |
|
I kept seeing this pickup truck on my route to/from my son's school which was thusly adorned (they also had two Kerry signs in their yard). One day, I saw a fella out mowing the lawn, so I stopped and asked him about it. He was, indeed, a Bush supporter in 2000, and had gotten the W04 sticker from the campaign with one of their contribution requests. He put the sticker on his truck upside down, right next to his Kerry/Edwards sticker, and sent their contribution form back with a note saying, sorry, but Shrubbie was a big disappointment and that his contributions would be going to John Kerry this time around.
