My theory for why the polls are so close. |
|
I've been predicting for months that the polls would bounce all over the place in the last few months then settle into a dead heat.
Why?
There is no story without a dead heat in the race. Just look at all the people on both sides of the fence trumpeting and analysing EVERY SINGLE POLL for the last few months.
At this point, I can't trust any of them except maybe the state by state polls (which oddly get VERY little play) because it seems like it all was engineered.

... all presidential elections will be close for the foreseeable future.
This is because of the nature of the campaigns. Both sides play to their base and then go for the piece of the middle that won't lose them their base.
They both tailor their message and take their positions such that they will always split the electorate down the middle, "triangulate" if you will.
