Is it wrong that part of me hopes for a tie? |
|
Part of me, the dirty part would be interested to see a 269-269 electoral college tie with a Democrat controlled house and a republican controlled senate. Then we can all just get along peacefully!
Right?

1. Wrong. The current house would select Bush. |

If you are supporting a Bush victory, you are in the wrong place.

But the sadistic part would love to see the republicans thisclose to it, but still have to sit back and watch Kerry take the presidency.

The next House will be the one voting, not this one.

16. IT doesn't fucking matter, Each state delegation gets ONE VOTE |
|
Overwhelmingly a Republican victory under those conditions.
The poster desires a Bush victory. Anything less than 270 electoral votes for KErry means Bush wins!

They have all turned into fiscally irresponsible, ideologically driven, chicken hawks.

We need at LEAST two. My point was that the republican party is no longer a true conservative party. There is nothing conservative about massive deficits, and irresponsible wars based on bad intelligence. In other words, they have all lost their minds. :)

people never get along peacefully in politics, unless they have a common goal. Clearly that is not a case right now. I have never seen such distinct differences in the candidates and their platforms, so the friction would be even worse if there was a tie. This election means too much!

13. No... and I'd prefer an EV win but a PV loss |
|
Frankly, I don't see how it would happen unless Kerry's margins in NY and CA were halved and Bush support surges in hard-core red states like Georgia, Texas, and the Great Plains states.
But having bit both parties in the ass, with the Republicans likely to control Congress (at least the House) and with Republicans whining far more than Democrats ever did, it's likely the EC would FINALLY go. And Kerry would probably be a true statesman about it - supporting it and actually acting in a clear but bipartisan manner.
Of course, I'd still prefer a decisive popular vote win.

Why would anyone want Kerry to lose the PV?
He wouldn't have a mandate, especially if the Congress stayed the same. He would be a lame duck president! He wouldn't be able to accomplish any of his initiatives.
If we want to get ANYTHING progressive accomplished in the next four years of a Kerry administration, we need to get a mandate from America. At least over 51% in the PV.
