Yahoo goes out of its way to kiss Bush's ass |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 07:27 PM by Yo_Mama_Been_Loggin
The following two articles were on the same page. AP Poll: Bush, Kerry in Dead Heat http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041021/ap_on_el_pr/president_ap_poll&cid=694&ncid=2043Reuters Poll: Bush Grabs One-Point Lead on Kerry http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=2&u=/nm/20041021/pl_nm/campaign_poll_thursday_dcIf one reads the first story one finds that Kerry has a three point lead among likely voters. Is Yahoo a bunch of media whores or what?

1. Love the Reuters Poll headline. |
|
Bush "grabs" a one-point lead.
If Kerry had a one-point lead, it would be reported as "statistically insignificant".
Liberal media my ass. :eyes:

on my SBC Yahoo homepage all weekend the headline was, BUSH PULLS AHEAD OF KERRY. Of course, by Sunday some polls were showing otherwise. However, they didn't change the headline until Tuesday.

What makes this so bad is that these headlines were written on the same frickin' day. You'd think they'd at least wait a few days to whore openly.
Also notice the strong action words w/ Bush = he "grabs" 1-pt "lead."
disgusting.

Kerry's 3-point lead is bigger than Bush's 1-point lead, but the headlines totally misrepresent that. Of course, this happens all the time.

6. It's the sports writer/announcer hype method |
|
Everything is written like it's the bottom of the 9th and a tie game. Long ago some wise DUers reasoned that this will be a landslide, but it has paid to advertise it like a horse-race, to keep people tuned in for the commercials.

7. keep people tuned in for the commercials? |

I thought it was to discourage the smart from voting. After all, if your vote isn't going to make a difference, it doesn't make sense to vote so more of us will get discouraged than those mindless fundies.

9. Perhaps if they showed a 10 point lead by chimp |
|
people would be discouraged, however the horse race thing is basically the same hype that is applied to a badly mismatched Super-bowl in order to boost viewership and to sell ads.
