Blackwell (R-OH) enlightens us on gay marriage......
http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1098437854276131.xml

Columbus - Secretary of State Ken Blackwell is under fire for saying that same-sex marriage is so absurd that it defies "barnyard logic."

That's a lot of bull, responded a gay-rights champion, who called Blackwell an expert in spreading "manure."

And a top Democrat wondered whether the comments represented "compassionate conservatism."

The flap began Tuesday night when Blackwell told members of a Toledo-area church, "I don't know how many of you have a farming background, but I can tell you right now that notion even defies barnyard logic . . . the barnyard knows better."

Blackwell said he wasn't criticizing gay people - just gay marriage.

"I believe this issue is not about civil rights, but about a sacred right," he said in an interview. "One of the functions of marriage is for men and women to replenish the earth."

He used the barnyard analogy, he said, "because if you're on a farm and you want eggs to eat and little chickens to grow into big chickens, you need a rooster and a hen

9. Yes, I can.
I am in OH and I got a automated phone call which asked me if I agree that marriage should only be between man and woman. It also asked me if I support the NRA and whether I want to pay less taxes.

Um, Blackwell, you don't need Roosters if you just want eggs to eat, all eggs in grocery stores are unfertilized. There are no roosters around in most commercial egg production.

8. monogamous cows?
So I guess ol Farmer Blackwell performed little marriage ceremonies for his livestock and made them adhere to a "christian" monogamous lifestyle.

What a moran.

11. What's interesting about his analogy
Is that it is completely false. We had a ranch and would often find two bulls going at each other in an intimate fashion. The same would happen with other animals -- pigs, horses, chickens, goats, etc. Often a female would come to lie with another female in times of stress. We had one rooster who would let the female lay the eggs and then he would sit on them and "convert" to a hen, caring for the chicks even after they hatched. He and one particular hen seemed to have an arrangement along those lines since it was 95% the two of them participating in the gender change.

Matter-of-fact, I saw a documentary on MSNBC several weeks ago which spoke of a certain type of monkey that praticed "rampant lesbianism" (LOL!!) -- the females choosing only to be with the males for the purpose of procreation, then returning to their female partner. The scientist observing said these types of behaviors, although found to a lesser degree in most animal species, were "just not discussed" in the past by the scientific community due to fear.

I would wager a guess that the only animal on the planet who hold such practices of homosexuality as taboo is the human animal. I've really had it with all of this hub-bub about gay marriage and gay rights. Our rights as Americans do not depend on approval from others. We have those rights because we are Americans. (lather, rinse, repeat as necessary)
