CBS shows video of Clark praising Bush
I didn't catch the whole segment, only the part of Clark praising Dumbya. Did anyone else see it?

1. Did not see it
wish I did. I don't think that it's a secret that Clark supports Bush. I hope all our Democratice friends figure that out.

2. You have to be kidding
He's running for president as a Dem because he supports Bush. Makes perfect sense to me. :eyes:

14. Pretty odd
conclusion since 1) he voted for Gore over Bush and
2) he's running to defeat Bush.

BTW, welcome to DU. I can see that you'll be adding another open-minded, balanced perspective to the forum. :hi:

16. lol
From an obviously dishonest comment (since He voted for Gore and is now running against Bush) to an honest question: Who do you support and did the candidates that voted for the Iraq invasion and or still defend their vote agree with bush's foreign policy or do they not? I await a real answer and make sure your reply makes since and is honest.

4. I suspect there are a few more videos lurking out there
There is no telling what we are going to get with Clark. I'll never understand all the blind support for someone so inexperienced and newly converted to our side.

7. the most recent one to be uncovered is.....
the one where he links Al Queda and Hussein. BIG GAFFE - HUGE. He's been trying to work this one out all day, stammering, stuttering and parsing his own words that are preserverd right on tape for all prosperity. My, my all those tangled webbs and republican votes for the last five repub presidencies.... hard to explain.

21. Not much need to parse, actually
First, what Clark has always said is that there was never a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda in regards to the event of Sept 11.

However, he has said there were contacts and meetings between Iraq and Al Qaeda, and this was 'natural' (Sept 2002, before Congress).

In fact, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace agrees with Clark:
http://wmd.ceip.matrixgroup.net/iraq3fulltext.pdf
Page 48, column2, point 2, 2nd paragraph:
"Bin Laden and Saddam were known to detest each other, the one for his radical religious beliefs and the other for his aggressively secular rule and prosecution of Islamists." . . . "The fact that they were strategic adversaries does not rule out a tactical alliance based on a common antagonism to the United States. However, although there have been periodic meetings between Iraq and Al Qaeda agents, and visits by Al Qaeda agents to Baghdad, the most intensive searching over the last two years has produced no evidence of a cooperative relationship between Saddam's government and Al Qaeda."

15. It's not the least bit "blind"
YellowDawg. I've spent the better part of 6 months reviewing the records, positions, personalities and 'feel' of each of the candidates before making my decision. I've been guilty of many things but rarely making blind decisions.

13. CNN reported
that the Al Queda video was provided by a rival campaign.

My guess is Kerry or Lieberman campaigns, because they are most threatened by him.

Also, Kerry started off week with Shaheen blasting Clark.

To supporters of all candidates: there is video out there making all candidates look foolish. Whether you agree with this depends on who's candidate is getting gored.

I don't think it helps any of them.

I have seen the video. Clark is endorsing Katrina Swett. She is now working for Lieberman.

5. The news will be saturated with it....
for the rest of the week. There is a direct call on the Clark blogs to "diffuse" the situation. They are expecting serious fallout from this tape, that combined with the other little goodies they have of the general praising the cabal for all their great work at a fundraiser a couple of years ago. The other combat boot is about to drop. Battle Stations!

But not in NH.

I think it will not be that bad for Clark.

9. Didn't Clark refer to G.H.W. Bush and not Dubya?
I thought I read that it was made after Gulf War I. Sorry I can't find the reference right now.

12. Hell, I've said that myself.....
and so have about 10,000 other people on this board at one time or another. Even the most loyal dems have said that at one time or another. Pundits predict a very close election at best, so what would be so unusual about someone saying something like that?

17. Hey, if Wes said it, it's fair game. He should be able to explain it.
If he can't deal with it sufficiently in the primaries,
then he won't be able to in the GE. Best to know it now,
get it out there.

True for all the candidates.
This is the minor leages.
The GE is the major leagues.

what relevance to the topic at hand? Better toughen up, if Clark gets the nomination it'll get a whole lot uglier than this.

19. Generalissimo Franco still dead. Breaking news?
Passed the polite introduction , Clark can be proud of every word in that speech. Tried to teach Bushco about multilateralism and playing nice with others...
At least he didn't see W's soul, that moderate one, nor has he predicted a reselection.

20. Does anyone know the context of this?
I saw the clip CBS showed. The video was dated May 2001. Can't remember exactly what he said, but something like he is proud of this president and he is the guy to have in there now.

Does anyone know at what venue Clark made this remark?

I am a Clark supporter, and put more weight on his written word and actions, which very strongly condemn the rule of His Chimperial Majesty, but gee, Wes -- you got some 'splainin' to do with this one!!

24. hmmm
I didn't see the clip so I'm not sure what the video being discussed here is. However, from what you say, it sounds like it may have been a video clip of a paid speech he did in May, 2001 at a GOP fundraiser in Little Rock, Arkansas. The full speech is here:
