BIN LADEN FOUND - How Kerry can capitalize.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1139625

What the article essentially says is that they haev narrowed bin Laden's location down to one region of the country. But we simply don't have the manpower or the resources to mount a military campaign against him because he may still have a moderately sized fighting force present, as well as teh advantage of terrain.

If we hadn't rushed to war in Iraq, if we had an extra 130,000 soldiers, if we had the resources in the form of equipment, weaponry, tanks, and so forth to deploy to the area, wouldn't that resolve the issue? Our rush to war in Iraq is allowing bin Laden to go free even after we've identified his location.

And if we hadn't alienated the rest of the world, we could probably ask for UN support to capture him. We could have had assistance. I mean, it's in their best interest that he be neutralized as well. But who is going to follow us now, after seeing the utter disaster we caused in Iraq.

Bush's behavior and policies in Iraq are now the exact reason that Osama bin Laden is still a free man.

Bush's constant bible thumping has so energized the fundamentalist zealots in Pakistan that any US action there will cause the Pakistani government to fall. Pakistan has nukes. Do I need say more?

However, doesn't mean much given I don't have a way to pay for it.

Apparently Bush has already maxed out his credit card too.

5. Sounds like more of the "EXCUSE PRESIDENCY" Kerry's already
talked about dozens of times. This is a prime example: "Well, we ALMOST have him".

6. Better, Sir, To Capitalize On The Idiocy Of The Supposed Location
The idea Bin Laden is in Waziristan, or any other portion of the "Tribal Areas" is carefully nurtured by Musharref because it gains him material U.S. assistance in prosecuting a decades long objective of the Pakistani state, namely extending its authority effectively into those tribal areas that have for generations successfully resisted its central rule.

Bin Laden's haunt is somewhere north and east of Malakand in the Upper Swat valley, on the border between Pakistan and the portion of Kashmir it occuppies. This is the original heartland of anti-Western jihad in the region during the nineteenth century. The principal business of Al Queda in Afghanistan was training militants for the Kashmiri struggle, and in that area, these continue to operate and dominate the scene, with the assistance and cover of the dominant elements of the Pakistani "special servive" bureau. It is a particularly congenial terrain for Bin Laden, and it here he resides....

"Can't nobody here play this game?"

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

"Who or why, or which, or what,

Is the Akond of Swat?

Is the tall or short, or dark or fair?

Does he sit on a stool or a sofa or chair, or squat,

The Akond of Swat?"

The doggerel was fairly popular when the English were trying the Malakand Pass. By all accounts, he was a most engaging fellow....

7. Intelligence, Special Ops, Diplomacy
These are the keys that Bush might have used to go after OBL but that he squandered. Kerry plans to use them again. We would not fight a land war as we did in Iraq anyway--we could not topple Pakistan.

9. This is the reason why all of us need to hit hard on it
A DU'er in another post put this website up. They are blaming us dems and we need to hit hard in response!

http://www.yesbushcan.com/pledge.shtml

America is facing many serious challenges, both at home and abroad. Meeting these challenges will require Americans to make some new sacrifices over the coming four years. President George W. Bush is ready to lead us through these difficult times, but liberals don’t believe our citizens are ready to face hard choices. The political gridlock that results prevents the full realization of the goals of the Bush presidency.
