They elected Bob Kerrey.
But it's probably bible-belt social conservatism and an anti-fed message (leave us alone!).
The prairies are unfortunately going Puke. We have to really work hard, b/c prairie states should naturally be Democratic because of economic issues.
Incidentally, if there are any Nebraska DU'ers out there, how'd Bob Kerrey get elected?

when you said the "anti-fed message (leave us alone!)". Bingo. Most of the right or right-leaning people I knew in ND, another prairie state, weren't overly religious. They just blathered on and on about "big government".
