Anybody else need to get off this roller coaster? |
|
I can't believe how easily my emotions are being manipulated. I can go from being assured of Victory to defeat in twenty seconds! What is wrong with me?

1. Believe me, you're not alone. |
|
In 2000, I succumbed to the manipulations and was miserable. This year, I'm doing better, but still very anxious.

2. Stay away from the poll numbers .... |
|
The only ones we need to follow are those from the battleground states. We don't care if Bush wins Utah or Wyoming by 20%.
Also, it is a time for inner strength. We have to remain strong and confident. Do not let them discourage you. We are in a struggle for our country. We have the leader and the ammunition to fight right up to the end. Conserve your energy. :)

4. They call it voter fatigue. I have it too, but I'm an election judge. |
|
I'm just pulling in, keeping the television off, checking headlines on the internet, and working outside. This is the "last inch" theory perfected. The last inch of any task is where the weak falter and fail to see through. We all have this weakness.
But not this time, saracat. It's too important. Hang on, nearly there.

6. I'm the same way...but I'm getting better |
|
last week I wrote that I feel like an anorexic with a scale. Poll numbers determine my mood. Now I am trying to be more circumspect. It probably won't work, but I'm trying hard. It's hard work.

We have a lot of hard work to do, and victory is far from guaranteed. We can all party when it is over, and our job is done.

http://www.needlenose.com/win04/vote.htmI've already posted the link on another thread, but wanted to make sure you see it. Gotta admit, I've been a nervous wreck for about a month.

I am laughing hysterically, and it's done WONDERS for me.
Keep your chin up, grrl; we in District 6 need you now more than ever!
And I do mean YOU.

11. Get away from the computer |
|
and get away from people who read tea leaves and alternately panic or exult. Get out and do something for the campaign instead - wave a sign, talk to a neighbor, help a phonebank, write letters to the editor, offer yard signs to neighbors, attend a meetup, help the campaign office with data entry, canvass your precinct - there's a ton of things you can do that will do more good than reading poll analyses on DU.

13. Saracat does all that and then some--she's my (and |
|
AZDemDist6's) Precinct Chair, and a real go-getter. She's had a tough couple of days, but she can stay at it!

That's why I took a long nap yesterday and am up in the middle of the night now. I think my boyfriend's relieved to be in cA now away from my bipolar state. I'm driving voters to the polls on nIve 1 and 2, and hope I can keep my emotions in check so I can act normal and drive safely!
