Corzine going after Bunning's seat
arching for a Senate upset on Nov. 2, Democrats are putting fresh money down in Kentucky in hopes of denying Republican Sen. Jim Bunning (news, bio, voting record) a second term.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee purchased more than $800,000 worth of television time to air commercials designed to help Democratic candidate Dan Mongiardo, according to several sources speaking on condition of anonymity.

The ad relies heavily on newspaper headlines to accuse Bunning of "scant leadership" and "slipping judgment" in an era of lost jobs, skyrocketing health care costs and overcrowded classrooms. It is expected to run until Election Day.

1. Bunning seems pretty beatable, if CNN is any indicator.
They just did a piece on it, making him look pretty incompetent.

I mean, the guy admits he doesn't know about a major news story involving a KENTUCKY resident--because he only gets his news from Fox.

No newspapers, or other news networks.

Please tell me Kentuckians aren't stupid enough to vote for this guy.

2. Bunning today said he was unaware of the Iraq mutiny
http://www.courier-journal.com/localnews/2004/10/22ky/A1-senate1022-8036.html

"When reporters told him that the unit's refusal was a national news story and involved a soldier from Louisville, Bunning said, "Let me explain something: I don't watch the national news, and I don't read the paper. I haven't done that for the last six weeks. I watch Fox News to get my information."
Told that Fox News broadcast the report, Bunning said, "Not the times I watched it. So the fact that somebody was from Louisville, I know about that."
Bunning's opponent in the Nov. 2 election, Democratic state Sen. Daniel Mongiardo, said Bunning's comment was "another indication of how he's just simply out of touch." "

3. Between Bunning and
Delay's slipping poll numbers, I have been smiling all day.

4. Bunning appears to be just another demented hate monger, which makes
him a fairly mainstream republican. His mistake might have been to be so open about it. Picking up this seat would be so sweet.
