The scope and seriousness of this example of Republican fraud, the damning details, cannot be conveyed in four paragraphs of excerpts. Please read this entire story:

GOP Voter Drive Accused of Tossing Cards
Sat Oct 23,12:32 AM ET
By DEBORAH HASTINGS, AP National Writer

In several battleground states across the country, a consulting firm funded by the Republican National Committee has been accused of deceiving would-be voters and destroying Democratic voter registration cards.

Arizona-based Sproul & Associates is under investigation in Oregon and Nevada over claims that canvassers hired by the company were instructed to register only Republicans and to get rid of registration forms completed by Democrats....

***

Former canvassers such as Banse have come forward in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Oregon in the past two weeks alleging they were told to register only Republicans and to "walk away" from people who said they intended to vote for Democrat John Kerry.

Some said Democratic registration forms had been thrown out or ripped up....

***

Eric Russell of Las Vegas told The Associated Press that he watched a Sproul supervisor tear up eight to 10 registration forms completed by Democrats and managed to grab some of the shredded documents as evidence. State officials are investigating his claim....

1. But he doesn't have anything to do with it. Uh huh.
"Sproul declined to name the states in which his company conducted registration drives. His political consulting firm was founded last year and has received nearly $500,000 from the RNC since July, according to federal election records."

Lock them all up. Tear up the same number of Repuke forms, have the election, and afterwards, throw away the key to the jail.

Big G.O.P. Bid to Challenge Voters at Polls in Key State

Republican Party officials in Ohio took formal steps yesterday to place thousands of recruits inside polling places on Election Day to challenge the qualifications of voters who they suspect may not be eligible to cast ballots.

Party officials say their effort is necessary to guard against potential fraud arising from aggressive moves by the Democrats to register tens of thousands of new voters in Ohio, seen as one of the most pivotal battlegrounds in the Nov. 2 elections.

Election officials in other swings states, from Arizona to Wisconsin and Florida, say they are bracing for similar efforts by Republicans to challenge new voters at polling places, reflecting months of disputes over voting procedures and the anticipation of an election as close as the one in 2000....

8. I agree
Wisconsin has same day registration so the puke efforts to stop voters here won't get too far.

7. In sport , if it discovered you have cheated
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 07:51 AM by Delightful
You are immediately disqualified , no ifs or buts . Yet in what is potentially the most important election ever , those caught benefiting from cheating , are still in the game .

We should tell them now , that there is such a preponderence of evidence they are trying to subvert the democratic process , that they have forfeited all rights in this election .

For the sake of 'Democracy' , they have to be made to realise that we will not tolerate their nefarious , underhand tactics anymore .

12. We are seeing these stories in the print press...
but if they don't make it to television, or if they spin them as both parties engaging in these practices (as I just saw on CNN International), people will be unaware, and do and say nothing.

Election 2004
Students complain of false party swap

Scores of college students say they were tricked into changing their registration to the Republican Party when signing petitions.

snip.................

Goodwin, a University of South Florida freshman and Democrat, was among dozens of college students who say they were tricked into registering as Republicans at USF's Tampa campus.

It happened to hundreds of other students at college campuses in Tallahassee, Gainesville and Orlando.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating and Secretary of State Glenda Hood has urged students to call election offices before they vote.

The prime suspect is a group hired by the National Republican Committee to register voters.
