and they CAN be persuaded, as most of 'em already have major doubts about Bush as his administration has gone exactly the opposite of what they believe (big gov't, etc.) Witness the conservative voices who have even reluctantly endorsed him.

I follow both sides and read conservative (not wingnut) sites, etc. The issue that has been a MAJOR tipping point is the way people are treated at Bush rallies/appearances. The most egregious recent one was where two teachers were bounced simply for wearing "Protect Our Civil Rights" t-shirts. Kerry would do very well to get these two out on the trail to tell their story. Pronto.

This really resonates with reasonable conservatives - I've heard numerous examples of it being the last straw for a lot of 'em. The campaign should be pumping it a lot more.

1. Deficit, foreign adventurism, civil liberties, conservationism, reputation

Excellent post. Bush has been defending his base so often because he knows they are ripe for picking off.

Conservatives hate the budget deficit.
Conservatives hate the foreign adventurism.
Conservatives hate the trampling of civil liberties.
Conservatives hate the false environmentalism.
Conservatives hate how Bush has trashed America's reputation.
Conservatives hate the Abu Ghraib prison scandals.

Bush is hard right, not a true conservative. Peel the conservatives away from Bush.

If they can't vote for Kerry, conservatives can abstain or vote libertarian or another 3rd party or they can even stay home.

and read the list. I wonder if Bush/Cheney realize how many people they have ticked off by doing this? I think you have a point about giving the link to conservatives-a lot of them can't stand this sort of thing, and, like one conservative columnist said, this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
