What could this mean for the Kerry campaign? Opinions?

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and West Virginia are all death penalty-less.

And Maine too, to the extent that it's possible for Bush to pick up 1 or 2 EVs there.

2. I don't know what it means... but I am ashamed that my state is not....

on that list. Pennsylvania has the death penalty. Horrifying.

3. It's not that much of an issue in this election

I just don't think with all of the huge issues on the table the death penalty is going to be a factor. I've always thought of the death penalty as more of a state issue anyway.

4. there is currently a case in Iowa

that may get a federal death penalty judgement. Federal death penalty in Iowa would be by hanging I belive.I am a little sketchy on the details but a guy killed a few other people (including a couple of young children ) to eliminate witnesses to his drug activities, somehow or another there is a federal law that was voilated and it is a federal case with the possibilty of the death penalty being applied.

5. I think Americans have been desensitized to other people's deaths.

Isn't that a cynical statement? I think this is the first time anyone saying anything about the death penalty has registered on me in this election.
