I may be way too partisan to be objective, but I get the feeling
that we will be very pleasantly surprised on Nov 2. I remember that feeling when Kerry started picking up momentum after Iowa and it didn't stop. I think alot of us were shocked to see that not only did he win, but he smoked all the other candidates. I wasn't a Kerry fan and he wasn't my first, second, or even third choice, mainly because I was looking for another Bill Clinton. Living in the south, we hadn't been familiar with Kerry, but now that I feel that I've "gotten to know him" I see he is clearly the best candidate for the job--not to mention down right charismatic. We are in a different time since Clinton was president and I have no doubt John Kerry is the man for the job.

For those with ANY doubt that Kerry is a strong closer look at this:

1. I TOTALLY agree...
I remember feeling, much as I loved Gore, he wasn't gonna win.

I feel nothing like that now. Early voting in Florida has caused news orgs to look at the results - Dems are turning out in droves. I can truly, truly see Kerry winning and feel the momentum is totally on our side. Just wait till Clinton starts hitting the campaign trail with Kerry!

There's no stopping us as long as we all do our part and fight like hell - I too think if we keep it up we'll be very happy come November 3rd!

2. We have tried to survive without a president for 4 long years...
and some thought it okay...but, I totally agree with you about John Kerry...He is about as presidential as they come and I am looking forward to his arrival in the vacant WH...He will need our support to pick up the pieces of the vacancy that has existed.

4. You're right. The fight to get Kerry in the White House is going
to be nothing compared to keeping him there. We will have to fight even harder because you know they are already planning to "Clintonize" him from day one. This time we can't sit back and say it will be ok; we'll have to write letters, emails, phone, and just never let up if they start that shit again. NEVER AGAIN.

5. I don't think Kerry is gonna allow them to "Clintonize" him
he knows histroy speaks for itself and will not allow it to be repeated. Wisdom--one of his many positive qualities, unlike Bush who wouldn't know what wisdom was if it slapped him in the face.

Bill Clinton was an awesome president, but right now we need a Franklin D. Roosevelt.

7. As a Dean supporter
I easily remember my shock at how much better than expected Kerry performed in Iowa and NH. Keeping my fingers crossed that whatever made that happen is still in the air.

9. Massachusetts liberal
I am also getting cautiously optimistic not only about the election but about a Kerry presidency. The one thing I criticize Kerry for is not being blunt about what he is -- a Massachusetts liberal. But of course, all presidential candidates have to run to the center. But once he is president, I am beginning to think that this could be the fulfillment of John F. Kennedy's presidency -- a presidency of an intelligent, liberal northeasterner who will bring the US into the 21st century. I am beginning to happily believe the repugs when they say that Kerry had the most liberal voting record in the US Senate.

In retrospect, one of the reasons that the RW hated and feared Clinton was precisely because he "threatened" to eliminate the federal deficit and chronic debt. Once the debt was paid down, this would have freed the federal government from budget constraints that have prevented it from doing what most of western Europe's governments have done -- finally eliminate most poverty, provide universal health care, redevelop the transport infrastructure away from cars and toward mass transit, etc. The RW actually plotted to run up gigantic deficits and increase the debt as a backdoor way of preventing the federal government from becoming a european style social democratic government. What we think of as "disasters" of Bush are to them their greatest successes.

But Kerry knows the history of Clinton -- not only how to avoid being clintonized, but also exactly how to manage the economy and deficits and tax levels to optimize the future capacity of the government to manage and address our problems.

If Kerry wins two terms look forward to this in the second term: A complete paydown of the federal debt, universal health care, world class education, guaranteed college tuition for anyone who is unable to pay, and a marshall plan scale investment in a switch over from fossil fuels to a hydrogen economy.

And it takes a Massachusetts liberal to have the foresight to accomplish these things.

11. I'm right there with you except I didn't think there would ever
be another Bill Clinton. I was for Dean because he had the balls to speak out. After Iowa I saw that in Kerry too. I was disappointed in the way he let the Swift Liars get away with murder but now I see the fighter in him again.

He is DEFINITELY the right man for these times.

13. I'm worried about 2008
It sure loooks like Kerry has the momentum for this election.
I just hope he can survive 2008. Bush has screwed up Iraq so badly that Kerry's going to have a hard time making things right there - and we all know that FAUX News will change their tune in a heartbeat come Jan. 20. Instead of ignoring the mess in Iraq like they largely do now, they'll be trying to show how Kerry screwed it up - even though they all know it's Bush's mess. The spin will be mind-boggling.

Not to mention that the Rethuglicans in Congress will be doing their best to see Kerry fail too since they're more than willing to sacrifice the good of the country for their own poilitcal gain.

14. that's why we have to stay active and not let them get an inch
on the crap they try to spin. I think when Clinton was in office we got so comfortable that he would take care of things--which he did--but in the shadows a witch hunt was brewing. Now of course I fault him for walking straight into it, but nevertheless, all the Monica broo-ha-ha was blown (no pun intended) way out of proportion.
