How important is the Des Moines Register endorsement for Kerry ?? |
|
If we remember back to the primary, John Kerry was expected to finish behind Dean and maybe Gephardt? But, then he got the Des Moines Register endorsement....Then he surprisingly won the Iowa primary, which led to the infamous Dean "scream".
The endorsement of the Register carries a lot of weight with the voters of Iowa. And it will carry a lot of weight 9 days from now just like it did in the primary. This endorsement would have to put Iowa down as favoring Kerry. I think things are starting to fall into place. :)

1. Don't think they've supported a Repug since Reagan |
|
so I don't think it means much. It's a pretty solidly decided state, meaning I doubt there are many undecideds. Hell, they may have not even endorsed Reagan. Can't remember, but it is my hometown.

In a close race where a newspaper endorsement can top .5%, this matters a good deal. Thank goodness we got it..

I don't know the paper well enough to know for sure, but are they typically viewed as a Dem or GOP paper? If they are usually for Dems, then the endorsement probably won't matter much. If they tend to tilt more to the GOP side, then it might...
But that's just my humble opinion.

Edwards over Dean was the shock result thanks to the Register's endorsement. As for the Kerry endorsement, Iowa is up for grabs from what I've seen in the polling and any bump can help. It obviously is better than having them endorse *.

8. I apologize for stating that Kerry got the Des Moines Register endorsement |
|
It was Edwards. Funny, how age plays these games with your mind. :) And thanks for the good folks that can keep all the information straight.

7. It is good, but Kerry won Iowa because he worked hard and fought for votes |
|
by showing people his strength and compassion - just as he is doing now
