Why all the Teresa bashing?
Please forgive me if I'm missing the obvious, but I've been out of the loop for a couple days. What did Mrs. Kerry do that has the media whores all upset this morning? I'm watching Kurtz on CNN and the panel is talking about Kerry's character as evidenced by something Teresa either said or did. Can someone clue me in?

1. Same old bullshit...
Teresa said something positive about Laura Bush, but the networks edit out all the positives and exaggerate the negatives.

8. yep that's what I'm shocked about. How they don't
cover that she mentioned right after the job comment that she has other real experiences (motherhood) that are as important if not more.

2. She said Laura Bush was a Stepford wife...
She's going to be an interesting First Lady, to say the least.

3. She dissed Laura....
By saying she doesn't think she ever held a real job.

4. Just a remark that said...
Something about how she wasn't sure Mrs. Bush had ever had a real job. It wasn't meant exactly that way but that is how it sounded, and the decadent press, eager for any bid of juicy scandel no matter how much of a non-issue it is, jumped on it and immediately you have freepers calling out "teresagate". To be honest, Teresa could have chosen her words better, but does it matter? Our people are dying every day in Iraq because of our corrupt administration, and the best the media can do is harp on Kerry's lesbian comment and Teresa's job comment? Please, we need the fairness doctrine back NOW.

5. Methinks the non-issue about a remark she made
regarding Laura Bush not having had a real job. She promptly apologized for it, saying Laura did work as a librarian, etc. Laura graciously responding that no apology was needed (the ONLY decent thing to come out from that camp in the last 4 years, it seems).

End of story, and they're STILL playing it up on cable "news"?

10. Anything - ANYTHING
To not have to answer questions about their record - they will drag up wives, children, pets, the weather in Timbuktu, the color underwear someone is wearing or terrorist scares to get the media off message. Nothing is sacrosanct for their whoring. They have smeared, smeared, smeared and dodged, dodged, dodged any real questions. Just more attempts to rope-a-dope - and they are doing a fine job of roping all the dopes - media included.

18. Well it may be true, but don't forget that close to 50% of your population
are FREAKING IDIOTS you are bout to vote for Bush and that the margin for winning is verry thin. Sure, it's great if Teresa speaks her mind but not if it costs Kerry the election.

19. Laura Bush stood by
while the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq was handcuffed at a Bush pep rally. Where was the media then? If anything points to character, that does.
It's just mind-boggling that the press is mute when law-abiding protesters are arrested in the presence of the First Lady for daring to question this administration's policies (a right she earned when they brought her kid home in a casket). Yet Mrs. Kerry makes a gaffe, quickly and gracefully apologizes, and still the press is like a dog with a bone.
Maybe they're worried about being cut from all the fun WH parties they now attend with regularity, socializing with that manly C-I-C who's so much fun to hang out with. I bet Teresa has other plans for who will be the Kool Kids in town!

21. Teresa
is being Teresa! She is smart, sassy and savvy! The mental moronic midgets in the media feel it is their job to reduce her to a much more manageable level - Teresa isn't playing their game! I love Teresa just as she is and it will be wonderful having a real first lady in the White House who will stand for something again.

25. It goes deeper

They spend alot of time ripping her for a lot of reasons:

1. They despise her because she's a rich billionaire who married a YOUNGER man, an erudite distinguished looking Democrat. Then she had the audacity to switch parties.

2. Republicans are perplexed and extremely angered when very weathly Americans do not go Republican. It challenges their whole view of the word because after all she should only care about getting yours (You worked hard for it didn't you???), keepin' yours and keeping the great unwashed barbarians at the gate.

This is why I am so amused by working class folks who are so rabid about being Republican. They are so f--king delusional I just think they get what they deserve--an underfunded retirement fund and spotty health insurance with no safety net for their old folks, babies and children. They have been feed some opium bullshit that one day they are all going to grow up to be like the Bushes, wealthy and rule the world. Plus who wants to be associated with all these minorities, feminists and gays....eewwww. "We're better than that even if we're living paycheck to paycheck off of cheap generic bread and bologna sandwiches..."

3. She has an accent (entrenched xenophopbia)
.
4. She is well educated and speaks several languages (Most Americans barely speak English properly).

5. Sorry to hurt your feelings press corps and company, but she doesn't really give a shit what you think about her. The first lady is supposed to be doing a fawning Mrs. America schtick. Don't forget how disdainful some members of the press were of Hilary. I mean beginning with Tammy Wynette and the chocolate chip cookies comment, they road her for 8 years.

6. Finally it has not escaped me that it is usually the white male commentators (not all, not all but usually) making the most mean ascerbic comments like "disaster" "wacko" "nutcase" etc. I have not heard very many black male or female commentators make as many angry, angry comments about this woman who's what 63?? It's as though they take it deeply personal. I'm always intrigued by that kind of visceral passionate disdain. Makes me wonder more about the commentator than the accused.

28. Conservatives hate uppity women
Even conservative women hate uppity women; remember, the ERA was defeated by Texas women. Let a Hillary-hater get wound up for a bit, and you'll get more gynophobic jokes than you ever new existed.

The reactionaries want to put the genie back in the bottle. The Eighties were a good start, but civilization just doesn't work like that.

They hate her because she should sit back there and have another cookie bake-off and smile benignly. Not only that, but how dare she be a class traitor like her husband and FDR! She's going to take away all we work so hard for, and she'll still be living off the fat of the land in her liberal limousine.
